Wynonna Earp Video! EP Emily Andras Shares BOLD Choices Made in S2 Regarding Melanie’s Pregnancy

“I wanted her to kick some demon ass!”

Wynonna Earp Season 2 premiered on July 20 and Executive Producer, Emily Andras, was excited to share some details of the forthcoming season. Emily admitted that ‘It’s all cliff-hangers from here on out.” Emily was also thrilled to share the details on the brave decision the series made to incorporate, Melanie Scrofano’s real life pregnancy into the story line of season two.

“We honestly considered all options, but when we did the math, Melanie Scorofano gave birth four days after we finished shooting. If you want to know what a real life superhero looks like, that’s your answer.”  (1:52 ) In the end, instead of trying to hide her pregnancy, they made the choice to embrace the situation and incorporate it into the story line.

“I wanted her to kick some demon ass! She (Melanie Scrofano) wanted it too.” (2:20) “Wynonnna is a character who does not always get a lot of choices, so this seemed to be in line with her destiny that is constantly trying to screw her over. But, every day Wynonna gets up and tries to fight again and make her own choices.” Everyone came behind the idea and suprisingly the story line for the season did not change much from what was originally intended.
Emily also addressed the love triangle between, Wynonna, Doc (Tim Rozen)  and the Deputy Marshal ( Shamier Anderson). as well as her thoughts on the new characters introduced during the season. The EP admitted that she didn’t actually know the direction she wanted Mercedes Gardner (Dani Kind) would go and was really pleased with how her arc evolved.
