My Top 11 Choices for May TV
It is hard to believe that the 2016-2017 TV season is nearly ready to end. Next month’s programming options will be filled with finale episodes galore, a special TV event for a soon-to-be-ending sci-fi series and a new streaming series based on a classic book to enjoy.
Here are my top choices for May:
FINALES GALORE
There are a lot of finales that will be airing on the major (and cable) networks throughout the month, but the following are the final episodes for which I am looking forward to most:
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. – May 16 at 10 PM on ABC
Blindspot – May 17 at 8 PM on NBC
The Blacklist – May 18 at 9 and 10 PM on NBC
Supernatural – May 18 at 8 PM (for two hours) on The CW
Supergirl and Jane the Virgin – May 22 at 8 and 9 PM (respectively) on The CW
The Flash – May 23 at 8 PM on The CW
Arrow and The 100 – May 24 at 8 and 9 PM (respectively) on The CW
SPECIAL EVENT
One of the most overlooked, but thoroughly compelling, shows on network TV right now is 12 Monkeys. The 10-episode third season of the Syfy futuristic series will actually air over the course of three days, as follows:May 19 – The first four episodes will air from 8 PM through 11 PM
May 20 – The next three episodes will air from 8 PM through 10 PM
May 21 – The final three episodes will air from 8 PM through 10 PM
NOTE: The show’s fourth and final season will air in 2018.
RETURN OF A CLASSIC
The new streaming series – Anne – based on the classic novel Anne of Green Gables by author Lucy Maud Montgomery – is the latest small screen adaptation of the classic story, airing on Netflix, starting on May 12.
Anne Shirley (newcomer Amybeth McNulty) is a coming-of-age story about an outsider who, against all odds and many challenges, fights for love and acceptance and her place in the world. Set in Prince Edward Island in the late 1890s, the series centers on Anne, a young orphaned girl who, after an abusive childhood spent in orphanages and the homes of strangers, is mistakenly sent to live with an aging sister and brother Marilla (Geraldine James) and Matthew Cuthbert (R.H. Thomson).
