New Show Introduction: Famous in Love

By  |

The new Freeform series Famous in Love, based on the book of the same name written by Rebecca Serle, will debut on April 18 with Pretty Little Liar’s executive producer I. Marlene King at the helm.

The basic premise of the show focuses on what happens when life changes for ordinary college student Paige Townsen (Bella Thorne from the Disney series Shake It Up and the box office movie The Duff) when she auditions for and lands a role in a big-budget blockbuster movie.

The newfound fame turns Paige into Hollywood’s new “it” girl, forcing her to adjust to the highs and lows of celebrity life — all while trying to balance her college workload. While Paige’s new career offers her a chance to meet new people, she has to learn how to navigate her new star-studded life and the undeniable chemistry with her two co-leads. It also strains her relationships with her two best friends while she uncovers the truth about what happened to a famous missing popstar.

The rest of the cast includes:

Carter Jenkins (the TV dramas Surface and The Following) will play well-known young actor Rainer Devon, the star of the big-budget blockbuster, who begins to have feelings for Paige;

Keith Powers (the box office film Straight Outta Compton and the TV series Faking It) plays troubled star Jordan Wilder, who is the third point in the love triangle between Paige and Rainer both in real life and on the big screen. He and Rainer are also former best friends;

Charlie DePew (the box office film The Amazing Spider-Man – with Andrew Garfield – and the TV comedy The Goldbergs) will play Jake Salt, a down-to-earth Midwest guy, who aspires to be a screenwriter/indie filmmaker and roommate to Paige;

Niki Koss (the box office film Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse) will play young actress Alexis Glenn, who competes for the same role as Paige, but who has a big secret;

Relative newcomer Georgie Flores plays wanna-be actress Cassandra Perkins, who is Paige’s close friend as well as roommate to Jake and Paige;

Perrey Reeves (the TV shows Entourage and Covert Affairs) will play Rainer’s cunning mother Nina Devon, who is half of one of Hollywood’s most powerful couples. She will do whatever it takes to make sure things go her way; and

Pepi Sonuga (the TV series The Fosters) plays Tangey Turner, who was romantically connected with both Jordan and Rainer [she’s the reason they are no longer best friends]; she is the missing popstar.

Famous in Love will debut on April 18 at 9/8c on Freeform, but all 10 episodes of the first season will be available on digital platforms (the Freeform app, Freeform.com, On Demand and Hulu) for viewers to binge watch that very night.
