My Top 10 Choices for April TV

By  |

Here are my top 10 choices for April TV that I cannot wait to see:

HERE’S TO THE NEW

The new original, limited series The White Princess, based on the novel by Philippa Gregory, will debut on Starz on April 16 at 8 PM. The series is set in 15th century England that is told from the perspective of the women waging the ongoing battle for the English throne: Lizzie (Jodie Comer from Thirteen), Lady Margaret Beaufort (Michelle Fairley from Game of Thrones) and Dowager Queen Elizabeth Woodville (Essie Davis from Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries).

On April 23, the new series Mary Kills People will debut on Lifetime at 10 PM. Caroline Dhavernas (Hannibal and Wonderfalls) will star as Dr. Mary Harris, an overworked single mother and ER doctor who also moonlights as an underground angel of death. She works outside the law assisting patients who want to die on their own terms. The cast includes Jay Ryan (Beauty and the Beast), Lyriq Bent (Rookie Blue), Greg Bryk (Bitten) and Richard Short (666 Park Avenue).

RETURNING TO THE FOLD

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will return for the rest of its current season on ABC on April 4 at 10 PM.

It’s been nearly 8 years since Prison Break has aired on FOX, but on April 4 the buzzed-about limited series return of the series will debut at 9 PM, finding Lincoln (Dominic Purcell) and Sara (Sarah Wayne Callies) discovering that Michael (Wentworth Miller) is still alive in a Yemen prison.

On April 30, the third season of Good Witch will premiere on the Hallmark Channel at 9 PM.

SAYING GOODBYE

After five seasons on the air, the groundbreaking family drama Switched at Birth will come to an end on April 11 when its series finale will air on Freeform at 9 PM.

LET’S GO TO THE MOVIES (AT HOME)

The following will air at 9 PM each night (listed below), as part of Hallmark Channel’s Spring Fling made-for-TV movies:

On April 1, Love at First Bark, starring Jana Kramer (One Tree Hill) and Kevin McGarry (Heartland).

On April 8, Moonlight in Vermont, featuring perennial Hallmark star Lacey Chabert and Carlo Marks (Chesapeake Shores).

On April 15, Like Cats and Dogs, starring Cassidy Gifford (The Gallows) and Wyatt Nash (Hallmark Channel’s movie The Bridge).

On April 22, Safe at Home, starring Nikki Deloach and Andrew Walker, who – much like Lacey Chabert – have starred in their fair share of Hallmark Channel movies.

Please make sure to check out our full April TV calendar when it is posted closer to the end of this month.
