The Vampire Diaries: The Simple Intimacy of the Near Touch {Recap}

TVD fans are you ready? This episode was another doozy. Ripper Stefan is back in full force and damn he is scary and sexy at the same time (I truly have mixed feelings about him…lol). Good news! Bonnie is back in this episode. Yay! So get your wine (mine is actually a mimosa this time because I’m feeling fancy…Ha Ha) and let’s get down to the vampy nitty gritty!

The Salvatore Bros. took a trip back to Mystic Falls for the Founders Day Pageant. One thing we found out before they got there was that Damon had the striker piece of the bell (one of the 3 parts to complete the bell that will be the ultimate siren weapon) and he has no clue what it is. According to Seline, (who tried to make amends with Bonnie and Caroline by offering up her piece of the bell) Damon fetched it for her psycho sister, so when he showed up at the pageant, he was right on time.

Surprisingly, Damon had strength to resist Psycho Sybil’s influence because of Elena’s necklace Caroline gave to him. She tried to use him, as she always does, and Damon told her No! She couldn’t believe it. So what did she do? She teamed up with Ripper Stefan to get him back under her thumb. I swear ripper Stefan is a scary ass vamp! For real!

Caroline refused to give up on Damon, so she forced him to do the famous dance from the pageant with her to try and jog his memory. He was having flashbacks of Elena, until Sybil cut in. Ugh…she is the unwanted gift that keeps on giving.

Enzo wants Bonnie to become a vampire but Bonnie doesn’t want to go that route because she is still linked to Elena and she doesn’t know what that will do to her. They love each other so much, Enzo wants it to last for eternity (honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if we see Bonnie turn before the series finale).

Damon tricked Psycho Sybil into going upstairs with him so he could give her the striker. But the joke was on her when he told her that the more she tried to push Elena out of his head, the more he realized she wasn’t going anywhere and there wasn’t enough room in his head for both of them. Then he took that striker and bashed her in the head with it! Woo Hoo! This was my favorite Damon moment this season. It was short lived though because Ripper Stephan showed up, and told Damon he was hitting the road solo because Damon could never be the brother that he wanted. Really Stefan? Damon told him that he just fought Sybil, but that wasn’t good enough for Stefan. He didn’t care about Sybil controlling Damon’s mind, it was Elena that he wanted Damon to forget. Before Damon could put up a fight, Stefan staked him with a broken hanger and took the striker. Damn! Stefan is a loose cannon.

Stefan gave the striker to Caroline and told her to leave because he planned on turning all the finalists of the pageant into vampires. He taunted Caroline by saying she was bad for being engaged to a servant of Cade. He killed one of the girls (who will return as a vamp) and  Caroline shut him up by throwing a knife right through his heart. She was not going to let him kill anyone else. Man I love how Caroline has evolved into such a kickass girl power role model! #Girlpower

When Stefan woke up, Caroline told him that she was in it with him but they were going to do it her way. She said after a year they could move on with their life together. Stefan didn’t like that answer. He said Cade was right, he is exactly who he is supposed to be and he will stay in it until he decides to quit. Three years or 10 years, it was going to be on Stefan’s timetable. He was so cold towards Caroline, so she took off her engagement ring and gave it back to him. She told him to stay away from her and walked away.

In a very Twilight-esque scene, Enzo told Bonnie how he couldn’t bear the thought of losing her. They kissed (they are so fricking cute I can’t stand it) and Bonnie asked Enzo if he would take the cure? Now, there’s another solution to an eternity together (a much shorter eternity but still effective).

Damon chained Sybil up to torture her. Right when he pushed her buttons she decided to give him the ultimate torture, his humanity with a crap ton side of guilt. All his dirty murderous memories started flooding his mind and he felt them all. Ladies and Gents, we have a broken Damon and Ripper Stefan. Go on and refill that drink, you’re going to need it.

Fave line: Caroline to Bonnie, “How was Paris? How’s Enzo? Tell me you ate all the Cheese!” Ha Ha! Us girls love some cheese!

What are your thoughts about the episode? Do you think Bonnie should risk becoming a vampire? Or should Enzo take the cure? Will we ever see the loving Stefan again or is he gone forever? Let me know your thoughts in the comment section below.
