New Year’s Resolutions for 2017
Every year since I joined the staff here at NiceGirlsTV, I have been compiling a list of resolutions either for myself, for our readers and/or for others.
Just like last year I have decided to focus on a combination of resolutions for the New Year that are not only for me personally, but also for our readers and suggestion for one of the major networks.
Resolution for Myself: Much has been written and posted this year about the Netflix drama Stranger Things that aired over the summer. I had every intention of watching the eight-episode series when it debuted in July especially once all the buzz started to build as more and more people watched and commented about the series. However, I just haven’t gotten around to taking the time to watch all the episodes.
I hope to change that in 2017 by finally sitting down and taking the time to watch one of the most-buzzed about series before the second season gets under way.
Recommendation for Readers: The sixth and final season of the NBC fairytale drama Grimm will get underway starting on Friday, January 6. That being said, I would like to encourage TV viewers to watch the show especially those who may have left the show over the years, viewers who have been meaning to watch it but never did and those fans who have remained loyal to the show since the beginning.
I had the opportunity to watch the first three episodes of the final season over the Christmas weekend and what an amazing three episodes they are going to be. This final season is going to be an intense ride for the characters and the viewers. I truly believe this show deserves to go out on a high note so I encourage Grimm fans (past and present) to watch the final season!!
Recommendation to the Networks: Heads up ABC!! You desperately need to amp up your dramatic programming. This fall your network saw the demise of the both of the new dramas Conviction and Notorious despite both shows having great leads [really you cancelled Peggy Carter for Conviction?!] Also, earlier in 2016, Castle came to an unexpected end with a less-than-stellar series finale; and a number of your other current dramas are hanging on by a thread.
As a network, you need to fix this problem. Step out of the mold a little, give some much needed press to your existing dramas and maybe, just maybe, think outside the bubble a bit. You might just be surprised what a little change can do for your primetime line-up. It’s time to step up, get those creative juices flowing and give your viewers some better programming where your dramas are concerned.
