NBC
TIMELESS: Two Hints to Rittenhouse {Recap}
Timeless chose to tackle Nazi Germany this week and if the stakes weren’t high enough before, they are at the end of the episode.
Lucy (Abigail Spencer), Wyatt (Matt Latner) and Rufus (Malcolm Barrett) meet Ian Fleming while trying to stop the Nazis from getting the nuclear weapon that Flynn (Goran Visnjic) took from Las Vegas last week.
When Flynn sees (and traps) Lucy with Wernher Von Braun, he mentions that Rittenhouse could pay if the Russians had access to Von Braun’s formulas and that’s a dangerous thought to follow.
What is Flynn’s goal with Rittenhouse and how can a nuclear weapon and Von Braun help him? The question of what Flynn wants is still unclear, but his desire to have the US lose the Space Race and/or The Cold War hints that something Rittenhouse does affects US policies for years. (On a side note I love how the show incorporated Von Braun’s famous line about not caring if his rockets land so much as if they get up into the air.)
In the last act, it seems that the nuclear weapon is not for some specific purpose against Rittenhouse in the future, but it will power Flynn’s time machine for three hundred years.
Even as the episode ends, Mason makes a point of saying that he’s also in deep with Rittenhouse’s people. Mason can’t keep Rufus from spying on Lucy and Wyatt, but at the end someone from Rittenhouse stops Rufus’ car and forces him to play along. But how can a company do that to a car for such a short amount of time?
Right now I think that Rittenhouse is rather a dangerous group of people and I think maybe Flynn’s on the right track in getting them out of the business of technology and whatever else they can do.
Timeless airs on Mondays at 10PM/9PM Central on NBC.
