NOTORIOUS: Two Times Girls Run the World and One When They Don’t {Recap}
Notorious keeps raising the bar with complications to the Sarah Keaton murder, while also tacking other smaller stories that dominate the news cycle for a show that seems to be part hard-hitting news and part celebrity gossip.
This week’s other case focuses on Trinity, a musician, who is a coma but may have sexually assaulted a woman as well before the coma befell him.
Through the episode there were three moments where characters really shined through with tenacity and vigor for the job, two by our leading women and one by their underling trying to make it big.
Julia’s Determination
Trinity’s sexual assault raises the ire of her boss, but Julia (Piper Perabo) stands firm as she wants to follow her guts on the case (and video), even if she gets fired. The issue of Trinity’s sexual assaults goes to a much higher level; corporate profits and potential litigation. Trinity is represented by the parent company of the network who air LHL. Dogged work pays off, but the story could have had a different spin had Julia not found those other women and not run their story.
Louise’s Ire
During a rundown of stories for the week, Louise (Kate Jennings Grant) hears of a US soldier who is beheaded by insurgents, but doesn’t want to run the story. After some other work that Julia puts together, the video is edited for air and it closes out the show one night. Louise is visible upset by the video and calls Julia out for defying her order. After a few hours, Louise reveals while she hated to watched that video: she lost a friend when she was embedded with troupes years before in the same way that the recent officer was killed.
Ryan’s Skills
Ryan Mills (Ryan Guzman) is on the hunt for details about Oscar Keaton and Sarah, as part of the investigation into Sarah’s murder. To get to what he wants – Julia’s approval – he goes to Levi’s house to dig up some dirt. The end result of the hacking from Ryan’s parked car is that Levi’s been catfishing Oscar with a porn star and using that information for some reason yet unknown. Ryan’s trying so hard to impress Julia and his father that he’s willing to risk his reputation for the job.
Notorious airs on Thursdays at 9PM/8PM Central on ABC.
