5 Things I learned at Dragon Con 2016
I can’t believe it has been one week since Dragon Con. I still have a case of the DC blues. Every year Dragon Con is a blast and Cosplayers (the best in the world), fans, and gamers flood the streets of Downtown Atlanta for one hell of a weekend. I always have the time of my life and learn a few cool things. This year here are 5 of my key takeaways from Dragon Con 2016.
- Carlos Valdes is from Marietta, GA! What? How did I not know that? He is my favorite person on The Flash and I had no idea! That is right around the corner from me. He mentioned that during The Flash/Arrow panel on Sunday(9/4). He was a fan favorite this year at DC and I totally understand why. He was so nice to his fans (and charming); he really took time to meet everyone. I was lucky to meet him and he was amazing. I loved that he had a speaker at his table in the Walk of Fame and played music! It is always a plus when you are a bigger fan of someone after you meet them. He’s super talented!
- Alan Tudyk announced the release of Con Man the Game at a special event on Friday (9/2) at Dragon Con. My friends and I went to the event and downloaded the game (which I am totally addicted to). It’s a mobile game based on his web series Con Man. It allows you to build and run your own fan convention. There are obstacles like con crud and Alien Invasions to keep it interesting. It’s fun and you can download it for free in the app store/Play store.
- Fans of Ghost Hunters fret no more! If you are like me, you were sad to find out that Ghost Hunters is coming to an end. Well…that may not be the case! During their panel on Sunday(9/4), Jason Hawes said that they were ending their contract with Syfy but they are in talks with 4 other networks. Yay! He also said that the show will continue and to keep a look out. I can’t wait to see where their new home will be.
- Tory Belleci and Kari Byron of Mythbusters announced that they will star in the upcoming Netflix original series White Rabbit Project along with Grant Imahara. The show will look at the science behind things like fast cars and jet packs. It sounds pretty cool!
- David Guintoli and Bitsie Tulloch from Grimm are too cute for their own good. I was so happy hearing the news of their engagement but hearing about it and seeing them together are two different things. During their panel on Saturday(9/3), David had his arm around her the whole time and they even snuggled and stole a kiss at one point. These two obviously love each other and I couldn’t happier for them! Also, they announced that there are only 13 episodes in the upcoming final season of Grimm. That makes me sad. I love that show.
Bonus Fact- Dragon Con raised about $98,000 for The Atlanta Center for Self Sufficiency, the chosen 2016 charity that provides workforce development resources to homeless men and women in Atlanta. That is amazing! Way to go Dragon Con Attendees!
