Do You Remember: The Others

By  |

For the past seven seasons, actor Gabriel Macht has starred as legal eagle Harvey Specter on the USA Network drama Suits, but how many of you remember the short-lived NBC series that Gabriel starred in back in the early days of 2000 called The Others?

Please don’t mistake this TV show for the 2001 box office film of the exact same name that starred Nicole Kidman and Doctor Who alum Christopher Eccleston even though they were both in the horror genre.

The Others

The Others, on the small screen, focused on college student Marian Kitt, who discovered that she had the power to see into the “other side.” Professor Miles Ballard, a student of paranormal and psychic phenomena, learned about her visions, introducing her to “the others,” a group of individuals with the ability to vicariously experience the feelings, thoughts and experiences of others, and to help them understand paranormal phenomena. With Marian among them, they helped each other understand their abilities as they encountered otherworldly, often frightening, alternative dimensions, all the while, a dark force loomed over them.

The cast included the following:

Julianne Nicholson as Marian Kitt. Julianne has gone on to appear in Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Boardwalk Empire, Masters of Sex, The Red Road and the box office film Black Mass. She will next be seen in the USA Network series Eyewitness.

Gabriel Macht as Dr. Mark Gabriel. Besides starring in Suits, he has appeared in the films The Recruit, Because I Said So, The Spirit and Whiteout.

Missy Crider as Ellen ‘Satori’ Polaski. Missy has appeared in 24, Murder One, 90210, Mistresses and Criminal Minds.

Bill Cobbs as Elmer Greentee. The veteran actor has appeared in countless TV and film roles, but is best known The Color of Money, The Bodyguard, Oz the Great and Powerful and The Night at the Museum.

John Billingsley as Professor Miles Ballard. John went on to star in Star Trek: Enterprise, True Blood, Stitchers and Turn: Washington Spies.

Among the guest stars were James Morrison (from 24), Malin Akerman (from Billions and Watchmen), Zachary Quinto (Heroes and the Star Trek reboot) and Gabrielle Union (Being Mary Jane).

The Others consisted of 13 episodes that, like many other short lived shows, were aired out of order from February 5, 2000 to June 10, 2000 from creators John Brancato and Michael Ferris. Among the writers and executive producers were Glen Morgan and James Wong (of Space: Above and Beyond, Millennium and The X-Files).
