LIFE LESSONS from the 6 BEST MOMENTS of KILLJOYS S2 Finale

By  |

The strength of Killjoys has always been its compelling and complex characters who are at the same time deeply flawed and darkly beautiful. Here is our list of the best moments from tonight’s finale along with the lessons we can apply in real life.

1. John and Dutch have a heart to heart.

It was so wonderful to see John (Aaron Ashmore) and Dutch ( Hannah John-Kamen) come back together after the events of the season. Dutch did her best to comfort John in his grief. Her words made it clear, she would be there for him no matter the circumstance.“We don’t have to stay here. We can just fly away and never come back.”

• Sometimes you just need a friend and a good stiff drink. Being present is a life saver.

2. D’avin and Fancy make BEST FRENEMIES.

These guys had some freaking fantastic lines! D’av (Luke Macfarlane) shouted “Be explodey!” as he tried to strangle the life from Fancy (Sean Baek). Is that even a word? I don’t care. It’s wonderful! Their back and forth is hysterical! Their best line came in three three simple words. “Human shield bitch!”

• D’avin and Fancy prove to us opposites really do attract. It can most definitely make life more interesting.

3. Tea time?

I love how Khlyen (Rob Stewart) calmly turned down tea while Dutch killed the guards. I personally, immensely enjoyed the bankers response to the whole ordeal. Nothing interrupts tea time. Even murder!

• When it’s not your fight. Stay out of it.

KILL_210_KhlyenSacrifice
4. Khlyen’s Sacrifice and John’s support.

Khlyen’s words to Dutch cut to the bone. “Everything I did. Every cruelty. I did to protect you.” Love and hate are complicated emotions. Dutch discovered a new level of pain when the one person she lived to hate sacrificed himself for her alone. John understood Dutch’s turmoil after the death of her mentor and mortal enemy Khlyen. His words gently held her heart as sure as his embrace. “You don’t have to forgive someone to miss them. And you don’t need anyones permission to love someone that you hate.”

• Embracing and acknowledging your pain paradoxically lessons it’s sting.

KILL_210_PreeToast
5. Pree’s Toast.

Any good bartender understands love when he sees it.  Pree (Thom Allison), in true Warlord style, saluted it head on with grace. “To Red. May we all be so lovely. May we all be so loved.”

• Gratitude is everything.

6. Lucy and Johnny: a true love story.

These two share intimate and decidedly unsettling bond. John may be leaving, but not before the space ship Lucy (Tamsen McDonough), made sure he knew her heart. I honestly, teared up at their goodbye.
Lucy: “I forgive you.”
John: “Thank you. That helps a little.”

• Self forgiveness not for sissies. It is the most precious and difficult gift we can give ourselves.

Aaron Ashmore warned us in an earlier interview it would be awesome. He was right. I leave you with his parting words in regards to the finale, but also applies to us in life as well. “Don’t be afraid. It’s gonna happen. Its okay.”
