Do You Remember: Moon Over Miami

Moon Over Miami

Back in September of 1993, a one-hour crime drama called Moon Over Miami debuted on ABC. The show had a 13 episode order, nothing unusual there, but like many other short-lived shows, it only aired 10 of the 13 episodes, coming to an end at the beginning of December that same year.

Moon Over Miami was about spoiled rich girl Gwen Cross (Ally Walker, who went on to star in Profiler, Sons of Anarchy, Colony and Longmire), who ran away from her own wedding [think Debra Messing in Will & Grace except Gwen jumped from a cruise ship and swam away from her nuptials]. Self-made private detective Walter Tatum (Billy Campbell, who went on to star in Once and Again, The 4400, The Killing and Helix) was hired to find her, but she ends up working as a secretary – albeit an unlikely partner – with Walter in his firm.

As you can imagine, Gwen made his private and professional life difficult, to say the least, but she also made it more interesting. Gradually they grew closer [you’ve heard the old adage “opposites attract”], always getting the job done for their clients and “for justice.”

The series was canceled after ten episodes with the remaining three episodes only airing across Europe where it seemed be more popular than with the American audience.

Here is the opening clip of the pilot episode:

Among the guest stars of this short-lived series included: Willie Garson (Sex and the City and White Collar), Melora Hardin (The Office and Transparent), Leland Orser (Ray Donovan and the Taken franchise films) and Tom Verica (How to Get Away With Murder).
