Wynonna Earp Recap: “Bury Me with My Guns On”

By  |

Here is the official synopsis of last night’s episode of Wynonna Earp:

Wynonna, still shaken by her encounter with the last of the Seven, turns to drink – and other lustful activities! – for solace. And she gets swept up in Doc Holliday’s vendetta to find and defeat the woman who wronged him: the Stone Witch.

How To Cope

Wynonna went through hell in last week’s episode being kidnapped and tortured by the last of the Seven (and his human minion) so at the beginning of this episode she is coping in Wynonna style – drinking heavily at Shorty’s Saloon, dancing around like crazy and making out with the nearest reveler. But despite all of that she still can’t erase the images of what happened to her at the hands of Jack.

Trouble at Work

Given what she went through, Wynonna is put under evaluation by a “brain peeler” brought in by the Black Badge Division. Needless to say, her evaluation didn’t go well and Dolls didn’t do anything to help her. This caused a rift between the two with Dolls suspending her and Wynonna basically throwing her badge at him. Thankfully, in the end, Dolls redeemed himself by giving Wynonna her badge back telling her that she passed her second evaluation (which she didn’t take at all), but he obviously faked one to her back to work.

Gus Is Doing What?

Much to the dismay of Waverly and Wynonna, their gruff but protective Aunt Gus planned to sell Shorty’s Saloon, the one place where the girls had a safe haven (besides their original homestead). In fact, Aunt Gus gave Waverly a check from the sale of the saloon that would give Waverly her freedom, “to do whatever she wants.”

Waverly and Deputy Haught

These two have been circling each other for a while now. First they were both talking about two very different subjects even though they thought they were talking about the same thing; and then Waverly finally did the one that scared her most: made a move on the Deputy who has been eyeing her since premiere episode.

Doc and Wynonna

It’s not the first time they’ve rolled in the hay together, but Doc and Wynonna were interrupted in the act because he could sense that the Stone Witch, who he has an unusual connection because she cursed him to the bottom of that well that he dragged himself out of when Wynonna pulled Wyatt Earp’s gun out of there, was in a lot of pain. This was his chance to get vengeance!

Unexpected Showdown

Halfway through the show, there was a very unexpected showdown between Wynonna, Bobo Del Ray and Doc Holliday over the Stone Witch. Wynonna wants nothing more than to end Bobo, but Doc has other ideas.

Dolls and Sheriff Neadley

The sheriff put Dolls through a “come to Jesus” moment, telling the undercover agent that he knows he is there to investigate the supernatural and shares all the information he has been collecting on Bobo Del Rey. He also encouraged Dolls to spend Happy Hour at Shorty’s because he’d be surprised what he can find out there.

The Stone Witch

Doc used gallows silk soaked in blood as directed by the now deceased Blacksmith in order to trap the Stone Witch; who bartered with Wynonna for her life (albeit temporarily). The Stone Witch revealed that she and her husband created the Earp curse because the legendary Wyatt Earp killed their two sons (who she has been trying to resurrect – how gross was that resurrection scene over the skeletal remains, right?!) Her reprieve was short-lived as Doc and Wynonna took her to a far-off area of Purgatory filled with acres and acres of salt; he dug the hole and Wynonna put her in the hole, leaving her to suffer for all time [much like what she did to Doc by putting in at the bottom of that well].

Shorty’s Saloon

Bobo had warned Wynonna after their unexpected showdown that he had a surprise for her and when that reveal was made – that Bobo was the one who bought the saloon from Aunt Gus – it didn’t exactly go over well with her. The shocked look on her face said more than words.

The next new episode of the debut season of Wynonna Earp will air on Syfy on Friday, June 3 at 10/9c.
