Recap: iZombie – ‘He Blinded Me With Science’
During iZombie‘s three-week hiatus, the CW announced it was renewing all of it’s shows, so our favorite zombie is coming back for a third season! Before we get ahead of ourselves, lets channel back to this week’s episode where the characters start learning things we, the audience, already knew. For instance, Major discovers Rita is Du Clark’s daughter and Liv figures out that Drake is working with Mr. Boss. Here’s what else we learned.
Liv goes undercover as Liv To snuff out more evidence to link Max Rager to the death of a scientist, Liv decides to go undercover at the lab and her disguise looks like, well, her pre-zombie self. Ravi finds her new look “weird and creepy,” and then when she completes the ensemble with glasses, he says it’s the “stuff of nightmares.” Of Ravi, you sure do know how to compliment a girl! Yet, this “nightmare” couldn’t fool Du Clark, who she encounters after accidentally sets off the alarm when trying to sneak into the “secret-but-not-secret” basement lab.
Blaine’s feeling his mortality Though he survived Mr. Boss’s attempt to kill him, Blaine finds out that being “back on the brain gang” isn’t a long-term survival solution. Knowing Blaine is responsible for feeding the zombies of Seattle, Ravi concocts a rough version of the zombie cure for Blaine, but the cure is still in the test phase. Later Blaine confesses to his henchmen that he picked out a casket for himself and gives them the paper work to keep the business going. Then he injects the zombie cure and awaits his fate.
Du Clark is a douchebag dad We already know he is slime, but after becoming enraged when seeing Rita’s black eye, you want think that at least with his family, he has a heart. But when he leaves Rita and a scientist in the “secret-but-not-secret” lab to escape the zombie that broke free and then locks Rita out of his office when she manages to get out on her own, well he’s pretty much forfeiting his “Dad of the Year” trophy.
Babineaux and Bozzio inching closer to learning about zombies Human brains make a cameo in Bozzio and Babineaux investigation into Blaine. This throws them off a bit, because now they have to figure out who changed the reports to say it was cow brains and what is the significance of the human brains anyway. Then Babineaux walks in on Ravi and Liv’s autopsy of New New New Hope zombie rat. The answer is right under his nose, but can he accept the truth?
Liv unraveling Drake’s secrets Working off an scientist brain, Liv starts over-analyzing her relationship with Drake and who Drake really is. The charts and graphs that popped up on screen were brilliant illustrations of her thought process. To gather data for her hypothesis, she slides a phone under his car seat to track his movements. All in the name of love and science. She was willing to forgive him blowing her off for work and his friend Molly who’s knocked up by one of his friend, but when her data shows Drake is working with Mr. Boss, that’s the last straw. She wants to confront him, but Major whisks him away to his zombie freezer before she can.
Best outside reference: The kid stalking and harassing Babineaux’s suspect – “She looks like Groot.” Gotta love the shout out to the Guardians. Full disclosure, I have a dancing, baby Groot keychain.
