5 Reasons to Love The Shannara Chronicles
The new MTV drama The Shannara Chronicles came to an end this past Tuesday night with a season finale that left all of the characters in rather precarious positions, making sacrifices, putting their lives on the line and battling to save the world.
The women of this series, based on the popular books written by author Terry Brooks, played a key role in how the story progressed.
Here are 5 reasons why we love the women of The Shannara Chronicles:
1. Commitment – Amberle Elessedil (Poppy Drayton), the Elvin princess, showed commitment throughout the entire series. She was committed to becoming one of the chosen, she was committed to catching the shape shifter who was plaguing Arborlon, she was committed to the quest to find Safehold and she was committed to sacrificing herself to save the Ellcrys.
2. Bravery – Eretria (Ivana Baquero), the Rover who was set on getting herself out of her captivity, continual showed her bravery whether it was facing off against her “father” Cephelo, standing up against demons and trolls or allowing herself to be left behind so that Wil and Amberle could save the world.
3. Loyalty – Commander Diana Tilton (Emilia Burns) was loyal to her King, her husband Arion and her role as a Captain of the Black Watch, the elite Elven military sworn to protect the Ellcrys.
4. (Blind) Faith – Catania (Brooke Williams), the constant companion of Princess Amberle, had faith in her best friend to succeed in her quest and faith (blind though it may have been) in the young man – Bandon (Marcus Vanco) – for whom she fell in love.
5. Love – Each of these woman had such deep love in their lives: Amberle for her home, family and Wil; Diana for her husband; Catania for her best friend and Bandon and Eretria for Wil (unrequited though it was).
MTV has yet to announce a second season of The Shannara Chronicles, but there is certainly hope that the saga will continue.
