LUCIFER Roundtable: The Unexpected Prince of Darkness

Last night Lucifer helped a young football player who ended up the main suspect in a murder. He of course called his good pal Detective Decker to assist and despite still being skeptical of Lucifer they worked together to solve the case.

Lisa: No she does not! She looks amazing! I got a double dose of her last night, because she is also on hit the floor and looks so good on that as well. I definitely would like to see more of her!
Melissa: Apparently not. Has she made a deal with the devil? 😉
Leah: It’s down right distracting.
Mynda: Nope. I think she must have sold her soul!

Lucifer stopped short of unleashing his fury on two people who had it coming. Is he going soft or evolving?
Lisa: I think he is starting to grow a heart. God forbid Lucifer care for someone. Lol I definitely think he is evolving and I like the direction of his character on the show. I can’t wait to see where this goes.
Melissa: I think he’s evolving. As Dr. Linda pointed out, Lucifer is no longer just out to punish the wicked, he’s seeking justice for the wronged. That’s a significant difference. That said, I think this episode was the first time I actually feared what Lucifer could do to someone. We didn’t see his full fury, but we saw enough to make it clear that he is not all quips and sexiness. No wonder Chloe is determined to solve his mystery; he has the potential to be incredibly dangerous.
Leah: Detective Decker seems to be the thing Lucifer needed to push him from carefree devil on vacation to person with a purpose. I like where it is all heading.
Mynda: It’s because of Chloe. The writers alluded to it last night in this tweet.

Maze mocked Lucifer this episode, laughed right at him…Will she continue to stand by Lucifer if he keeps down this path of “doing the right thing”?
Lisa:I think she is a loose cannon. I do believe she is loyal to him, but she definitely will question his motives each time he does something that seems a little human. I’m not sure if she will stick it out if he goes full blown nice guy.
Melissa: No, I don’t think Maze will remain loyal if Lucifer turns into a member of the Justice League. In fact, I could see her mounting a mutiny and trying to take over the throne herself.
Leah: Maze seems to be all mayhem and debauchery. She is the devil on Lucifer’s shoulder – quite literally. She doesn’t seem to have any intention of changing.
Mynda: I feel Maze left hell for Lucifer and is not willing to give up quite so easily. She will escalate her actions in order to help Lucifer return to his old self.
I can see her going after Chloe if she sees her as the source. That conflict between Maze and Luci over Chloe will be epic indeed!

Did you like the case of the week? Did you feel like they tied it together with everything else that goes on during the episode?
Lisa: I did like it. I enjoy the chemistry between Lucifer and the detective. I enjoyed the case of the week and how they tie everything together. I am really enjoying this show which is funny because I think I was the only one of the Nice Girls at Comic Con that had no interest whatsoever of watching this show. Now I love it! Luci won me over! 🙂
Melissa: It was an interesting exploration of image and perception, but I wish they’d taken it a bit further. I feel like the mysteries could be a little more complicated. Maybe once we have our main characters more established, we’ll start to see more layered mysteries.
Leah: I know they are still working things out – shows take some time to find their rhythm, so I hope in the future they spend a little more time on the case. Not a whole lot more but just enough to make it feel like we could have solved something.
Mynda: The ‘cases’ are just a vehicle that drives the conflict of Lucifer along. I love how Tom Ellis is bright eyed and bushy tailed in the novelty of crime fighting.That paired with his enchantment over Chloe keeps me captivated.
