AGENT CARTER: “Lady in the Lake”; “A View in the Dark” {RECAP}

By  |

We’re back with another season of Marvel’s Agent Carter and just as last year, roundtables are going to be how we best tackle the crazy world of the SSR in the 1940s.

1. Did you want to see more of Peggy vs Dottie in the cold open?

Roz: I will always want more of Peggy vs Dottie, but I think this one wetted our appetites well enough that it’ll be a good string to keep focused on during the season.

Rueben: I think that scene was just the right amount for the opening of the season, as I’m sure it won’t be the last time we see Dottie and Peggy at each other. There are bound to be more fight sequences between these two.

2. What do you make of the Lady of the Lake case?

Roz: That the killer was the detective was a nice twist, but man it was odd to see other sort of powered people in the Marvel universe so far before what we’re used to.

Rueben: I wasn’t quite sure what to think of that, to be honest. I have a feeling I’m missing a critical piece of information because of my not being well-versed in the Marvel Universe world.

3. Does Peggy deserve all the male attention she gets? Why or why not?

Roz: I could do without the implication that Peggy’s just that magnetic that men will do anything for her, but I also appreciate that she doesn’t seem to want to have all of that attention focused on her.

Rueben: Yes, because she’s not only an attractive woman, but she is strong and smart. I think the men around her find that combination very intoxicating.

4. Is it too soon for a guy we’ve just met (Dr. Wilkes) to be HYDRA?

Roz: It’s too soon for HYDRA to be here, but I can’t tell if Dr. Wilkes is HYDRA or just Chadwick/Frost/their group.

Rueben: I’m actually hoping that he isn’t HYDRA, but perhaps that’s just being naïve. I’m also wondering now that the Zero Matter exploded with him right there, if we’ll see him again?

5. Are Chadwick and Frost the worst or WORST set of big bads for a season?

Roz: I think the worst for now since it seems that Chadwick isn’t in total control. But that doesn’t mean I won’t be scared by Ray Wise being one of Chadwick’s overlords. Never trust Ray Wise in a role. Never!

Rueben: Right now, I don’t think Chadwick is anywhere near as bad as Frost. To me, Frost is just freaking crazy while Chadwick is delusional. I need to see more before I form a full opinion on their level of “big bad”, though.

6. Now that we’re into the second episode, are you intrigued or horrified by Zero Matter?

Roz: It reminds me far too much of the stuff from SHIELD ant that alone makes me horrified, but also intrigued. Should the shows focus on the same sort of issues or not?

Rueben: Simply put: horrified.

7. How much do you love looking at the LA landmarks? The Dunbar and Griffith Observatory, especially.

Roz: I love them! I do love the Observatory and using the Dunbar – a historic place for African-Americans – was equally great after the show had so much racial backlash directed towards it.

Rueben: It was really cool seeing them; although I’m much more familiar with the Observatory than the Dunbar.

8. Now that Peggy’s seen that same lapel pin as the one Dottie had, do you think that eventually Thompson will come out to LA?

Roz: I’m thinking that he will, especially since that guy in the FBI wants something that I’m sure Thompson isn’t buying.

Rueben: Yes, that little lapel pin seems to be the epicenter of whatever is going on and I hope they don’t string us along for too long with the mystery.

9. Rate the episode from one to five red hats.

Roz: I give it four red hates for a job well know especially since I’m scared out of my wits now.

Rueben: I give the two-hour premiere 3 and ½ red hats for a job well done.
