The 100 Is Back for a Third Season
This Thursday night the third season of the provocative post-apocalyptic drama The 100 will premiere on The CW, picking up where the disastrous results of last season’s final episode left off.
As viewers will recall, countless innocent people paid with their lives in order for Clarke to save her people from Mount Weather while being deserted by her presumed ally Lexa and the Grounders when she needed them the most. In the end, Clarke retreated to the woods, seemingly abandoning her people due to the immense guilt she feels over her decisions that lead to all of those deaths.
Where the show will pick up in season three is anyone’s guess, not even trying to get details out of the cast and creative mind behind the show at last July’s San Diego Comic Con seemed futile.
The following is an excerpt of the press room interview for which NiceGirlsTV had the opportunity to participate:
Question: What is coming up in season three?
Isaiah Washington (Chancellor Thelonious Jaha): Everything. (There are) more characters, more blood, more everything.
Ricky Whittle (Lincoln): [Joking] (I can tell you) nothing at all. I don’t read the scripts, they tell me nothing.
Question: Does season 3 pick up immediately from season 2?
Jason Rothenberg (Executive Producer and Writer): Is there a time jump? [Pause] This is one of the things I can’t spoil.
Question: How long do you expect Clarke to be on her own?
Eliza Taylor (Clarke Griffin): I (believe) it will be a few episodes at least. She’s got a lot of stuff to work through. She’s on her own mission for the time being.
Question: What can you tell us about the first episode?
Jason: It is different. We’ve introduced this new character Ally, the AI, and that story is dominant this season. We have two dueling “A” stories: the continuing Grounders/Sky People conflict…we’ll go deeper into that world, understand the various plans a lot better and how they came to be and then the AI story, focusing on how that world became post-apocalyptic.
Question: Do you think Clarke will have a chance to redeem herself?
Eliza: Oh yeah. It’s Clarke. She gets through anything.
Question: Do you think that Octavia has a home with the Grounders or is she (feeling) kind of displaced?
Marie Avgeropoulos (Octavia Blake): Octavia has always been kind of the black sheep because she never really had a change, to begin with, to find out who she was; being a second child in a one child world on the ship, and locked up in the hold all her life. She’s always going to be resentful of the Sky People, (but) she found her own strength with the Grounders.
Question: What excites you (about) season three?
Ricky: Not knowing. Again, we’ll have the two worlds. We’re going to go very sci-fi this season, more so than the previous two. We’re going to have the two worlds, as we always do, that run in tangent. This season will be the AI story, and that will open up a whole new perception of the world and what happened. We’re going to investigate the history and what actually did happen, what ended it all. How did it end and why did it end. Meanwhile, back in the woods, times are tough between the Grounders and the Sky People. Things have really changed there. They were betrayed at the end of last season and friendships will be frosty. Lives will be lost, no doubt. And, we’re (going to) investigate more into the politics. There’s more of a civilization there than we thought at first. You’re going to see more environments; learn more about the other factions like the Ice Nation and possibly the Boat People. We’ll touch on these different clans; a lot of new characters are coming on board.
Question: What would you like to see happen to Clarke?
Eliza: I’d like to see her follow her own little adventure, (maybe) get a bit crazy. Lose her mind a little bit. I think that would be really fun to play. I think she needs to resolve stuff with Lexa. I think that’s the only way she’s going to move forward.
Question: Do you think that Octavia and Lincoln’s relationship is pretty strong at this point?
Marie: So far they are the longest lasting relationship…they just constantly make this immense sacrifice for one another. That love will always be there. Season three…will see them…at odds with one another (though).
The 100 will return for the start of its third season on The CW on Thursday, January 28 at 9/8c.
