DOWNTON ABBEY: “Season Six, Episode Three” {Recap}

By  |

Mrs. Hughes is putting so little fuss into her wedding that I think she needs a kick in the pants. But at least Mrs Patmore can also help nudge things in the right direction with the help of Lady Grantham. With the family in the drawing room, Mrs. Hughes is finally able to explain what she wants and to get what she wants from her special day. Too bad that when trying to spruce up her wedding with one of Lady Grantham’s coats, Lady Grantham is in a poor mood. All is well later, though when Mrs. Hughes is gifted a coat by Lady Grantham.

Tom writes that he’s sad to not be at Downton. Should that really come as a shock when he’s spent so much of his recent life there, though?

Danker is trying to dig into Spratt’s life now that he’s being secretive, like she always does. Which is turns out she was right to look into as his nephew is escaped from prison and staying at the back somewhere. But can’t we all assume that she has some mysterious past, besides her drinking and being a way for hustlers to get money, too?

Barrow’s off to another interview, but this house seems in disrepair. The owner is nice enough, but he’s all alone and the house is nice, but past his prime. Mr. Carson seems upset that the interview didn’t go well.

Edith runs into Bertie Pelham in London, and it seems that that they are having sort of flirting while also being awkward at the same time. She has a drink planned with him at seven. But the plans for drinks are derailed with Edith’s editor finally leaves and she and her secretary to get it all done. With Bertie’s help now.

Daisy is getting help with her exams from Molesley, and Molesley also drops the piece of information that the Drewes are leaving the farm. But who knows if it’ll happen or not. Daisy wants it to be, and who knows if that can happen when Lady Grantham looks shocked by the idea.

The wedding is a wonderful affair for everyone. Especially the surprise guests, Tom and Sibby. Happily married – in the way that makes them happy – they’re off of a new life together, with the Crowleys all along to watch.

Roz lives in the Los Angeles area, and has been a long time California girl. Despite her better judgment, she enjoys shows about the shallow sides of her home city, but will also find time to watch iZombie, Jane the Virgin, and much more. With a love of history, she also watches anything that is grounded in real life, including Victoria and black-ish. Having worked with children, she also follows shows she knows they watch (reminding her of those days of yore for her in the process). Contact her at roz@nicegirlstv.com.
