THE EXPANSE 1.05 – ‘Back To The Butcher’ Deceptive Hamsters, Perfect Coffee & Nowhere To Hide
Havelock survives his impaling like a champ only the to be berated to death by Miller who gets even more out of joint when he discovers his buddies new girlfriend. Finding his partners’ attacker barely registers on Joe’s radar. Clearly Thomas is getting invested into locating Julie Mao.
Not to worry, Anderson Dawes appears and offers up the villain on a silver platter with one catch. Dawes wants to find Julie Mao as well and admits she was resistance. Now it gets interesting! If the OPA doesn’t know where Julie is, who does?
Miller doesn’t have any luck in finding a, Sherpa, but does however, discover a furry little clue in the form of robotic hamster! Our mystery gal Julie had one in her quarters. And, just like that! Joe strikes gold in the form of a hidden data cube. Too bad Joe doesn’t have the chance to enjoy his prize. Our favorite detective was rudely kidnapped on his way out the door.
Holland awakes just in time to help his crew give some not so educated medical attention to Amos. Alex was so thrilled about his new ship that he failed to notice the message from our newly introduced Mr. Johnson who offers his aid. Our Belters were left with few options when they realized no one is left alive to confirm their innocence.
Naomi and Alex aren’t so convinced Tyco Station is the refuge Fred described. Naomi does not trust Mr. Johnson who we find out later to be The Butcher of Anderson Station in an incident with protesting miners. Amos eventually convinces her it is their only option.Naomi successfully changes the ships identity and Alex plots a course to Tyco Station.
Observations:
• Two hundred years from now everyone is still searching for the perfect cup of coffee!
• I find it HILARIOUS that all Miller’s devices have cracked screens.
• Anderson Dawes summed his cause up perfectly. “Earther’s have a home. It’s time Belters have one too.”
• Julie was a reluctant OPA member by default due to her concern over the suffering she witnessed in the Belt.
