Introducing SHADOWHUNTERS

By  |

The new sci-fi/fantasy series Shadowhunters – based on the best-selling young adult book series The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare – will debut on FreeForm (the new name of ABC Family) on January 12 at 9 PM.

The series will follow 18-year-old Clary Fray (Katherine McNamara from The Fosters and Happyland), who finds out on her birthday that she is not who she thinks she is. She actually comes from a long line of Shadowhunters – human-angel hybrids who hunt down demons.

When her mother, Jocelyn (Maxim Roy from Heartland), is kidnapped, Clary is thrown into the world of demon hunting with mysterious Shadowhunter Jace Wayland (Dominic Sherwood from Vampire Academy) and her best friend, Simon Lewis (newcomer Alberto Rosende).

Now living among faeries, warlocks, vampires and werewolves, Clary begins a journey of self-discovery as she learns more about her past and what her future may hold.

The cast includes Alan Van Sprang (Reign) as Valentine Morgenstern, Harry Shum, Jr. (Glee) as Wizard Magnus Bane, Isaiah Mustafa (Chuck) as Luke Garroway, Jon Cor (Being Human and Being Erica) as Hodge Starkweather and newcomers Emeraude Toubia and Matthew Daddario as sister-brother Isabelle and Alec Lightwood (respectively).
