OUTLANDER: Casting News, Photos and a Trailer (Oh My!)

By  |

The season finale of the debut season of Outlander aired on Starz back in May. Since then fans have been waiting as best they can for the much-anticipated second season. While we are still waiting for an official premiere date (the show is expected to be back “in the spring”), a new trailer for season two has been released, new pictures from the first season were published, an advanced look at season two have been presented in the form of new,never-before-seen pictures AND a long-awaited casting announcement has been made.

There is so much good stuff to share, and the break between the holidays seemed like the perfect time to focus on all of it in one place.

So, let’s first take a look at the casting announcement:

Richard Rankin

Scottish actor Richard Rankin has landed the adult role of Roger Wakefield. Viewers got to see young Roger in episode 8 of season one, as the young ward of Reverend Wakefield. In season two, Roger is a Historian and Presbyterian Minister (much like his great-uncle who raised him). Without spoiling too much, Roger plays a very important role in season two – which is based on the second book in the Outlander novels “Dragonfly in Amber“. Rankin has appeared in the box office movie Burnt, starring Bradley Cooper, and on the TV shows American Odyssey, The Crimson Field, the BBC One drama From Darkness and The Syndicate.

Next up is the new trailer for season two of Outlander:

Have you caught your breath yet?!

Well, there’s much more where that comes from. Please check out all of the pictures below, starting with pictures of Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) from season one followed by brand new season two pictures (thanks to TVInsider, Starz and Outlander Online):
