TV Calendar for December
The following list provides the dates for all of the made-for-TV movies, event series and mini-series that will air during December as well as a few others:
December 1 – The Bravo drama Girlfriend’s Guide To Divorce will return for its second season at 10 PM
December 2 – The winter finales of Rosewood and Empire will air on FOX at 8 and 9 PM respectively
December 3 – The NBC production The Wiz Live! will debut at 8 PM
Special Synopsis: This is a special three-hour live event production based on the groundbreaking Broadway show that brought the world of Oz to life in a funky sing-along journey down the yellow brick road. The cast includes newcomer Shanice Williams as Dorothy, David Alan Grier as the Cowardly Lion, Elijah Kelley as the Scarecrow, Ne-Yo as the Tinman, Uzo Aduba (Orange is the New Black) as Glinda, Amber Riley (Glee) as Addaperie, Mary J. Blige as Evilene, Queen Latifah as The Wiz, Common as the Bouncer and Stephanie Mills as Auntie Em.
December 4 – Reign will air its winter finale on The CW at 8 PM
December 5 – The ION original movie Merry Kissmas will debut at 9 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Unwinding her relationship from a controlling choreographer, Kayla (Karissa Staples from The Lottery) happens to take an elevator ride with lonesome caterer Dustin (Brant Daugherty from Pretty Little Liars). The elevator stalls, and spontaneously, magical kisses follow. Soon the choreographer makes nice and Dustin retreats. Kayla becomes confused as to which man to love. The cast includes Brittany Underwood (One Life to Live), Ion Overman (Ghost Whisperer), Roxanne Hart (Chicago Hope) and Doris Roberts (Everybody Loves Raymond).
December 5 – The original Lifetime movie The Flight Before Christmas will debut at 8 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Excited to take the next step in their relationship and move in with her boyfriend, Stephanie is crushed when he drops the bombshell that he wants to break up. Faced with spending the holidays heartbroken and homeless, she decides to fly home to Connecticut. On a red-eye the day before Christmas, Stephanie finds herself seated next to Michael, who is planning to propose to his college girlfriend. The two get off to a rocky start but things get even worse when the pilot announces that a huge, unexpected snowstorm is crossing the country. Their flight is diverted to a small town in Montana where Stephanie snags the last available room at the town’s bed and breakfast. Despite their differences, she offers to share the room with Michael and try their best to get along. The cast includes Mayim Bialik (The Big Bang Theory), Ryan McPartlin (Chuck) and Reginald VelJohnson and Joe Marie Payton (both from Family Matters).
December 5 – The Hallmark Hall of Fame movie Just in Time for Christmas will debut on the Hallmark Channel at 8 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: A young psychology professor must choose between moving across the country for her dream job or staying in her hometown to marry the man of her dreams. On a foggy December night, she gets little help from a Coachman, who brings her three years into the future and shows her what her life will become. The film stars Eloise Mumford (Fifty Shades of Grey), Michael Stahl-David (Cloverfield), William Shatner and Christopher Lloyd.
December 5 – The TV One movie Royal Family Christmas will debut at 8 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: The films will follow the Royal family, whose Thanksgiving is kicked off with a break-up ruse perpetrated by the family patriarchs (Richard Lawson and Debbi Morgan) to get their children home for the holidays. The cast includes Tichina Arnold, Romeo Miller, Vivica A. Fox and Ricky Harris.
December 6 – The original ION movie How Sarah Got Her Wings will debut at 9 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: There’s no room in heaven for Sarah (Lindsey Gort from The Carrie Diaries and Impastor) unless she rights one wrong from her past by Christmas. Sarah thinks her unfinished business has to do with Jordan (Derek Theler from Baby Daddy), the ex-boyfriend she jilted, who has since moved on to love another woman. The film also stars Daniel Di Tomasso (Witches of East End).
December 6 – Beverly Hills Christmas is the original UP Channel movie that will debut at 7 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: With help from a guardian angel, a spoiled and very materialistic teenage girl learns that true value is found in assisting others and not in material things. The film stars Dean Cain (Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman).
December 6 – Last Chance Christmas is the new original Lifetime movie that will debut at 9 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: When Prancer injures his hoof, Santa’s stable hand John must find a fill in to ensure Christmas deliveries go off without a hitch. His mission gets complicated when he discovers that Frankie, the perfect substitute reindeer, belongs to a precocious 8-year-old girl and her mother Annie. As he races to get Frankie up to the North Pole, he realizes that he’s actually falling in love with Annie and has to find a way to win her over and save Christmas at the same time. The film stars Hilarie Burton (One Tree Hill), Gabriel Hogan (Heartland) and Tim Matheson (Hart of Dixie).
December 6- The original Hallmark Channel movie Karen Kingsbury’s The Bridge will debut at 8 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Molly Allen lives alone in Portland, but she left her heart back in Tennessee with a man she walked away from five years ago. They had a rare love that she hasn’t found since. Ryan Kelly lives in Nashville after a broken engagement and several years on the road touring with a country music duo. Sometimes when he’s lonely he visits The Bridge – The oldest bookstore in historic downtown Franklin – and remembers the hours he and Molly once spent there. The film stars Katie Findlay (The Carrie Diaries and The Killing), Wyatt Nash (Petals on the Wind), Ted McGinley and Faith Ford.
December 6 – The new holiday movie Magic Stocking will air on the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries at 9 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: A young widow is hesitant to move on after her husband’s death at Christmastime several years prior. But with the help of a possibly-maybe-probably magic Christmas stocking unlocking the town’s mysteries, she finds the true meaning of the season – love that brings families together, no matter how old or new. The film stars Bridget Regan (Jane the Virgin and Marvel’s Agent Carter) and Victor Webster (Continuum).
December 6 – The winter finale of Once Upon a Time will air on ABC at 8 PM
December 8 – Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will air its winter finale at 9 PM on ABC
December 8 – Chicago Med and Chicago Fire will air their winter finales on NBC at 9 and 10 PM respectively
December 8 – The two-hour season finale of Scream Queens will air on FOX at 8 PM
December 8 – The winter finales of both The Flash and iZombie will air on The CW at 8 and 9 PM respectively
December 9 – Nashville will air its winter finale on ABC at 10 PM
December 9 – Both Arrow and Supernatural will air their winter finales at 8 and 9 PM respectively on The CW
December 9 – Criminal Minds and Code Black will both air their winter finale on CBS at 9 and 10 PM respectively
December 10 – The NBC movie Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors will debut at 9 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: This once-in-a-lifetime movie special takes place inside the tight-knit Parton family as they struggle to overcome devastating tragedy and discover the healing power of love, faith, and a raggedy patchwork coat that helped make Parton who she is today. The film stars Jennifer Nettles, Gerald McRaney, Ricky Schroder and youngster Alyvia Alyn Lind.
December 10 – The two-hour winter finale of Bones will air on FOX at 8 PM
December 10 – The Vampire Diaries and The Originals will air their winter finales on The CW at 8 and 9 PM respectively
December 11 – The winter finales of Hawaii Five-0 and Blue Bloods will air on CBS at 9 and 10 PM respectively
December 11 – Grimm will air its winter finale on NBC at 9 PM
December 12 – A Christmas Truce is the new ION holiday movie that will debut at 9 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: During a shaky 24-hour holiday truce amid the Battle of the Bulge, American Captain John Myers (Craig Olejnik from The Listener) and a Belgian farm girl, Alina (Ali Liebert from Bomb Girls), fall in love. Forced to separate when fighting resumes, the couple vows to reunite, under a bell tower, the first Christmas Eve after the war ends, if each is alive and eager. The cast also stars Kate Vernon (Battlestar Galactica) and Adam DiMarco (Artic Air and Cedar Cove).
December 12 – The Hallmark Channel movie On The Twelfth Day of Christmas will debut at 8 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Maggie Dunlop is thrilled when her long time crush, Mitch, moves to her little town of Harrison. Once Maggie discovers Mitch and his love for Christmas has drastically changed, she vows to bring the holiday spirit back in his life. Determined to show him the magic of Christmas, she decides to create 12 Christmas gifts that ask him to do fun Christmas tasks in order to renew his love for the season and explore his feelings towards Maggie. The film stars Brooke Nevin (Breakout Kings) and Robin Dunne (Sanctuary).
December 12 – Becoming Santa is the new Lifetime original movie that will debut at 8 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Holly has never introduced her toy designer boyfriend Connor to her family and has only revealed that they live “up north.” As their relationship intensifies, Holly knows she can’t wait any longer and decides to bring Conner to meet her parents for Christmas. Connor is in for a shock when he discovers he’s actually headed to the North Pole and Holly’s parents are none other than Santa and Mrs. Claus! Connor embraces his time there despite running into Holly’s ex, Jack Frost. Will Conner be ready to take their relationship to the next level – especially when it means he would be next in line to be Santa? The cast includes Laura Bell Bundy (Hart of Dixie), Jesse Hutch (Cedar Cove), Tony Cavalero (Hart of Dixie) and Michael Gross and Meredith Baxter (both from Family Ties) as Mr. and Mrs. Claus.
December 13 – The new ION original movie A Christmas Reunion will debut at 9 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: A Madison Avenue executive, Amy (Denise Richards), discovers an unusual Christmas surprise when she inherits her Aunt’s hometown bakery. The real surprise comes when she learns the other half of the bakery was left to her long-ago boyfriend, Jack (Patrick Muldoon). Unresolved personal issues resurface between them, as the exes return home to co-manage the store, along with its traditional holiday cookie bake-off. The film also stars Jake Busey (From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series), Catherine Hicks (7th Heaven) and Parker Stevenson (Baywatch and The Hardy Boys.
December 13 – Wish Upon a Christmas is the new Lifetime movie that will debut at 9 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: When business executive Amelia returns home to help a family-run ornament company, the employees see her as their savior who is coming in to rescue the company. They are heart-broken and shocked to learn that her plan to get the company on track involves massive layoffs. As Amelia prepares for the holiday ‘trimmings’, she finds herself rekindling an old romance with her high school boyfriend Jesse, who is also the company’s owner. She also soon begins to see the charm of the local business – but will she be able to save it in time? The cast includes Larisa Oleynik (Pretty Little Liars), Aaron Ashmore (Smallville) and Alan Thicke (Growing Pains).
December 13 – The Hallmark Movies & Mysteries movie Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow will debut at 9 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: The movie tells the story of Ashley Harrison (Meghan Ory from Once Upon a Time) and Dash Sutherland (Andrew Walker from A Bride for Christmas). She is a crafter based in San Francisco who is desperate to spend the holidays with her family in Seattle and Dash is also in a rush to get there. When Ashley inexplicably encounters a problem with her reservation at the airport ticket counter, she turns to Plan B and attempts to rent a car. But there’s just one vehicle left and Dash beats her to it. Reluctantly, Ashley takes him up on his offer to join him on the road trip. As the pair heads north, their adventures include car trouble, adopting a puppy and being secretly tailed by federal agents, who believe Ashley is up to no good. With a hint of romance gradually filling the air will these two fall in love or will their journey bring about an unexpected road bump to romance?
December 13 – The original UP Channel movie A Baby For Christmas will debut at 7 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: This Christmas, the Chandler family, much to Stephanie’s (Victoria Rowell) dismay, seem to be distracted from the usual family holiday traditions. Marci (Malinda Williams) and Blair (Karon Riley) are eagerly awaiting the birth of their first child due on Christmas day. The couple is doing everything in their power to ensure that they have the perfect baby girl – from meditation to changing their eating habits. Work-wise, Marci is trying to juggle impending motherhood with meeting the demands of her top client, Friendly Family Floral. Blair is back to running his own firm. Money is tight but he and Marci are happy and eagerly awaiting the arrival of their little bundle of joy. Meanwhile, Marci’s Aunt Myra (DeEtta West) and Uncle Donald (Greg Alan Williams), who recently retired, are feeling useless. Eventually they find a meaningful way to occupy their time at the urging of Donald’s cousin, Gavin Brooks (Clifton Powell). Aunt Elizabeth (Chrystale Wilson) is obsessed with getting a promotion at work. Add to the mix, Stephanie’s blooming romance with Lawrence (Kristoff St. John) – who is torn between being with her or continuing his mission work. It appears the Chandler’s have abandoned their Christmas traditions and lost the spirit of Christmas. That is, until a group of kids at an orphanage helps the family to realize there is more to Christmas than wrapping gifts and baking cookies.
December 13 – The season finale of the ABC drama Blood & Oil will air at 9 PM
December 13 – The winter finales of Madam Secretary, The Good Wife and CSI: Cyber will air on CBS at 8, 9 and 10 PM respectively
December 14 – The winter finale of Jane the Virgin will air on The CW at 8 PM
December 14 – Supergirl, Scorpion and NCIS: Los Angeles will all air their winter finales on CBS at 8, 9 and 10 PM respectively
December 14 and December 15 – The two-night premiere of the mini-series The Expanse will debut on Syfy at 10 PM
Mini-Series Synopsis: Set 200 years in the future, the series follows a detective (Thomas Jane from Hung) and a rogue ship captain (Steven Strait from Magic City and 10,000 BC) as they team up to find a missing young woman and unravel the largest conspiracy in human history. The cast includes Shohreh Aghdashloo (Grimm), Cas Anvar (Olympus) and Wes Chatham (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay).
NOTE: The rest of the 10-episode series will air each Tuesday night at 10 PM.
December 14, December 15 and December 16 – The Syfy three-night event Childhood’s End will air at 8 PM each night
Mini-Series Synopsis: The event series takes place after a peaceful invasion of Earth by aliens who promise to eliminate poverty, war and sickness, but whose intentions aren’t quite what they seem. The cast includes Mike Vogel (Under the Dome), Julian McMahon (Nip/Tuck and Charmed), Yael Stone (Orange is the New Black), Daisy Betts (The Player), Charles Dance (Game of Thrones) and Colm Meaney (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine).
December 15 – The winter finales of NCIS, NCIS: New Orleans and Limitless will air on CBS at 8, 9 and 10 PM respectively
December 17 – BBC America will air a special night of Luther at 9 PM, airing two new one-hour episodes
December 17 – The winter finale of Elementary will air at 10 PM on CBS
December 19 – The new Lifetime movie The Spirit of Christmas will debut at 8 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: With a promotion on the line, ambitious young lawyer Kate heads to Vermont to broker the sale of an old inn. Kate has her work cut out for her when she learns its haunted and she meets Daniel Forsythe – a handsome man who died 95 years ago! Each year, Daniel takes human form exactly twelve days before Christmas, unable to move on with the mystery of his death unsolved. Determined to help Daniel, Kate finds herself in an unlikely romance with the dashing Christmas spirit. The film stars Jen Lilley (Days of Our Lives).
December 19 – A Christmas Melody is the new Hallmark Channel movie that will debut at 9 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: The film revolves around Kristin (Lacey Chabert), a beautiful, stylish divorcee who is a talented clothing designer and her young daughter. Kristin has just had to close her small Manhattan boutique to return to her Ohio home town and live in her parents’ former home. It’s an adjustment for Kristin and Emily – especially when she runs into her former high school rival Melissa (Mariah Carey). The film also stars Brennan Elliott (Cedar Cove) and Kathy Najimy.
December 20 – The Hallmark Channel movie Christmas Land will debut at 8 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: When Jules inherits a Christmas tree farm from her late grandmother, she decides the sensible thing to do is to sell it. However, once she revisits the farm, she falls in love with the townspeople and meets a very special–and handsome—town lawyer named Tucker. The cast includes Nikki DeLoach (Awkward), Luke MacFarlane (Killjoys) and Maureen McCormick.
December 25 – The Doctor Who Christmas episode The Husbands of River Song will air on BBC America at 9 PM
Special Synopsis: It’s Christmas Day on a remote human colony and the Doctor is hiding from Christmas Carols and Comedy Antlers. But when a crashed spaceship calls upon the Doctor for help, he finds himself recruited into River Song’s squad and hurled into a fast and frantic chase across the galaxy.
December 26 – The Hallmark Channel will air the two-hour When Calls the Heart holiday special at 8 PM
NOTE: The show will be back for its third season in February.
