BLINDSPOT Round Table: Evil Handmade Instrument
The fall finale (they expect us to wait until February for a new episode) aired last night and it was a good one.
Here’s where we are on the episode title anagrams:
“Woe Has Joined” (alternate title for the pilot): “Who is Jane Doe?”
“A Stray Howl”: “Taylor Shaw”
“Eight Slim Grins”: “The missing girl”
“Bone May Rot”: “Or maybe not”
“Split the Law”: “Will the past” or “The past will”
“Cede Your Soul”: “Cloud our eyes”
“Sent on Tour”: “Trust no one”
“Persecute Envoys”: “Suspect everyone”
“Authentic Flirt”: “Lift the curtain”
“Evil Handmade Instrument”: “And unveil the mastermind”
The plot of last nights episode was very The Americans. Secret Russian sleeper cells were activated after the red headed woman killed David last week. She and her two cohorts attempted to complete their missions, but Weller and his team were too good for them.
In other sub-plots Patterson dealt with David’s death by working – until an episode ending tear fest. Jane and Weller finally kissed but then she was kidnapped by CIA Deputy Director Carter and tortured, putting a damper on the kissing.
How many languages can Jane possibly speak?
Roz: I’d wager she can speak as many languages as needed for cases. So, let’s assume all the romance ones, plus Russian, Chinese and a few more.
Leah: I was having Alias flashbacks watching her always have the correct language in her memory bank.
Lisa: I think Jane can speak every language humanly possible! J
The CIA jackass was the latest in a long line of people who have met their demise in a short 10 episodes. Were you shocked by his death?
Roz: Can I be thrilling by a death? That guy has been bugging me for weeks now. At least he’s dead now. I feel like singing from The Wizard of Oz to celebrate his death.
Leah: I couldn’t stand him (as you can tell by the wording of the question) so I’m not upset he is dead. I am a little shocked they keep killing off people though. People I figured were pretty main characters.
Lisa: No, I wasn’t shocked by his death, but I did feel a sense of relief. I am more interested in the man that killed him! What a twist!
Zapata did what she thought was right by resigning….but now that the CIA guy is dead do you think the resignation is temporary?
Roz: She’ll be back as I’m pretty sure she’s in that teaser trailer. But I think she’ll have to explain to Mayfair why she resigned and then took it back.
Leah: I am sure she will be back and I hope this doesn’t make her a pariah with the team. They were just starting to gel.
Lisa: I hope so! I was hoping she would find out that he was dead and try to get the letter back. She is totally not done with the team. Her dirty little secret died with him so she is going to feel free as a bird once she finds out.
Were you surprised by the reveal in Jane’s message to herself?
Roz: Not really since, tree-tattoo guy’s been around for a few weeks. He had to have some connection. I just want to know why Jane/Taylor did that to herself? Who is she working for really?
Leah: I can’t figure out why she had to wait so long to tell herself this was self inflicted. Seems like things would have been easier if she had just watched the video earlier. If she could sneak out of the safe house someone could sneak in and give her the 411.
Lisa: OMG! I was shocked! First I have to say, I prefer short hair Jane. Long hair Jane creeped me out! What the hell is going on? Why would she do that to herself? If it was all part of her plan, why would she want to erase all of her own memories? I want to know what is going on!!! Damn you February!!!!
And a comment that isn’t a question:
Weller and Jane finally kissed! I love the pacing of this show. They don’t make you wait for reveals or kisses…but they do temper the highs with some devastating lows.
Lisa: I was so happy to see them finally kiss! Yay! But I knew as soon as they did, something bad was going to happen. Hopefully she has learned her lesson and will quit sneaking out without security detail.
