LIMITLESS Recap: Pilot

Let’s talk Limitless, shall we? A spinoff of the Bradley Cooper fronted movie of the same name Limitless finds a slacker, Brian (Jake McDorman), thrust into a crazy drug fueled world after his friend is murdered. Throw in Jennifer Carpenter as a caring FBI Agent, Ron Rifkin as Brian’s father and a cameo by Bradley Cooper and you have the makings of a great show.

The pilot starts with Brian telling us all about how he never grew up, everyone around him did but not him, he still plays very very small gigs and takes temp jobs to make ends meet. A chance run in with an old bandmate introduces Brian to NZT, a drug that will allow you to use all of your brain function. It’s a powerful high and an even stronger low. The hangover prompts Brian to look for more NZT only to find his friend murdered. Brian uses the drug to help him solve the murder of his pal.
Along the way he runs afoul of the FBI. Thankfully Agent Rebecca Harris sees Brian and his abilities as an asset. She convinces her boss to allow Brian to consult with them on cases. It’s a win win. Brian gets to be useful, a somebody and th FBI gets help solving cases while studying the effects of NZT.
