What to Look Forward to on TV in September
September is always a big month for those of us more inclined to watch lots of television than do just about anything else (except sleep, of course). With the start of the fall TV season only a few weeks away, there is a lot for TV fans to look forward to watching.
Here are just some of the returning shows that I am eager to get back to you and new shows for which I am anxious to learn a whole lot more about when they debut:
RETURNING SHOWS:
Longmire will return for a fourth season on September 10 courtesy of Netflix
Continuum will be back for its finale season on Syfy on September 11
Doctor Who will be back on September 19 on BBC America
Scorpion (on CBS), Castle (on ABC) and Gotham (on FOX) will all be back on September 21
Scandal will return to ABC on September 24
Once Upon a Time will air its season premiere on September 27 on ABC
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be back on September 29 on ABC
NEW SHOWS:
The new Amazon series Hand of God will debut online on September 4. The cast includes Ron Perlman (Sons of Anarchy) and Dana Delany (China Beach and Body of Proof).
Blindspot, the new NBC drama, will debut on September 21 with Jaimie Alexander (Thor franchise) and Sullivan Stapleton (Strike Back) starring.
The new FOX drama Minority Report, yep, based on the box office film, will debut on September 21.
September 24 will be a busy night on NBC with the reboot of Heroes Reborn and The Player both debuting. Heroes Reborn will feature returning cast members Greg Grunberg, Jack Coleman, Sendhil Ramamurthy and Masi Oka as well as Zachary Levi (Chuck), Robbie Kay (Once Upon a Time) and Ryan Guzman (Pretty Little Liars) as just a few of the new cast members; while The Player will feature Philip Winchester (Strike Back) and former film star Wesley Snipes.
And, the new ABC drama Quantico will debut on September 27 with Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra in the lead along with (just to name a few) Josh Hopkins (Cougar Town) and Jake McLaughlin (Believe).
September doesn’t just mean returning and debuting shows, though, as there are plenty of season finales of many summer shows set to air too, including:
Rizzoli & Isles on TNT on September 1
The Last Ship on TNT on September 6
Beauty And the Beast on The CW on September 10
Graceland on USA Network on September 17
Cedar Cove on Hallmark Channel on September 19
Lastly, there are some good made-for-TV movies that will debut throughout the month such as the following:
Welcome Home on UP Channel on September 13, starring Luke Perry (Beverly Hills, 90210 and Ties That Bind) and Erica Cerra (Eureka).
Also on September 13, Signed, Sealed, Delivered Truth Be Told on the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, bringing Eric Mabius, Kristin Booth, Crystal Lowe and Geoff Gustafson back again as the POstables along with veteran actor Gregory Harrison) guest starring.
Lead With the Heart will debut on Hallmark Channel on September 19 with Kari Matchett (Covert Affairs) and former film star William Baldwin in the lead roles.
