August TV Calendar

The following list provides the dates of the returning cable and major network dramas as well as new cable and major network dramas, made-for-TV movies and mini-series that will air during August:

August 2 – The season finale of Last Tango in Halifax mini-series will air on PBS at 8 PM followed by the two-hour season finale of the PBS mini-series Poldark at 9 PM

August 2 – The new Hallmark Movies & Mysteries movie Gourmet Detective: A Healthy Place To Die will debut at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: When a journalist is found murdered during a gourmet food conference at a luxurious resort, chef-turned-sleuth Henry Ross (Dylan Neal from Cedar Cove) teams up with beautiful, no-nonsense police detective Maggie Price (Brooke Burns) to solve the culinary crime. Together, they work to untangle a web of mystery – involving the journalist, a movie star and high profile fixtures of the San Francisco restaurant scene – and solve the murder before the killer gets away.

August 3 – The season finale of UnReal will air on Lifetime at 10 PM

August 4 – The season finale of Stitchers will air on ABC Family at 9 PM

August 5 – The season finale of Deutschland 83 will air on SundanceTV at 11 PM

August 9 – The new Hallmark Movies & Mysteries movie Garage Sale Mystery: The Wedding Dress will debut at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Jennifer Shannon (Lori Loughlin from When Calls the Heart) has made a career of finding rare garage sale treasures to resell at the consignment store she owns with her business partner, Dani (Sarah Strange from Men in Trees). When she finds a wedding dress that was worn on the day a groom went missing, Jennifer uses her knack for solving puzzles to investigate this unsolved cold case. After meeting the dress’s original owner, Helen (Cheryl Ladd from Charlie’s Angels), and finding traces of blood on the dress, Jennifer digs deeper into the decades-old mystery with the help of Detective Lynwood (Kevin O’Grady from Heavenly Match), and the support of her husband, Jason (Steve Bacic from When Calls the Heart). With every clue that Jennifer uncovers, she gets closer to either finding the long-missing groom, or uncovering a wedding day murder.

August 10 – Major Crimes will air its summer finale at 9 PM on TNT

August 11 – Pretty Little Liars will air its summer finale on ABC Family at 8 PM

August 11 – Proof will air part 1 of its 2-part finale on TNT at 10 PM

August 12 – The UP Channel will debut its original series Ties That Bind at 9 PM

Show Synopsis: The series revolves around Allison McLean (Kelli Williams from Army Wives), a tough and experienced police detective in suburban Seattle. Like most working women, her hands are already full, balancing a demanding and dangerous job and a family — husband Matt (Jonathan Scarfe from Hell on Wheels), and teenagers Jeff (Mitchell Kummen from When Calls the Heart) and Rachel (Natasha Calis from The Firm). But when she and her partner, Devin (Dion Johnstone from Defiance and Stargate SG-1), must arrest her brother, Tim (Luke Perry from Beverly Hills 90210), for aggravated assault, her world drastically changes as Tim is convicted and sent to prison leaving his two teenagers Cameron (Rhys Matthew Bond from Good Witch) and Mariah (Matreya Scarrwener from Falling Skies) teetering on the brink of foster care. Having done the right thing as an officer of the law, Allison now feels compelled to do the right thing as a sister and aunt; she brings Tim’s two very unhappy teens into her home. Squeezing four teenagers under one roof proves to be an additional test of Allison’s strength and patience. It won’t be easy for her husband, her children or Tim’s kids either. In addition to investigating local crimes, the series will also focus on the joys and struggles of the teens as they adjust to their new home, their new high school, make new friends and experience love, romance, anger and jealousy.

August 13 – Rectify will air its finale on SundanceTV at 10 PM

August 13 – The season finale of Complications will air on the USA Network at 9 PM

August 15 – Power will air its season finale on Starz at 9 PM

August 16 – The new Hallmark Movies & Mysteries movie Love Under The Stars will debut at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Young-at-heart graduate student Becca (Ashley Newbrough from Privileged and Mistresses) strikes up an unlikely friendship with Emily (Jaeda Lily Miller from The Christmas Secret), a quiet girl who recently lost her mother. With every passing play date – chaperoned by Emily’s father, Nate (Wes Brown from Love Begins- Becca helps Emily come out of her shell and cope with her loss, and Emily teaches Becca to take on adult responsibilities. When a romance develops between Becca and Nate, though, the two must learn to balance their new relationship with Nate’s responsibility to Emily, and with Becca’s responsibility to finish her education. The film also stars Barry Bostwick.

August 16 – The season finale of Humans will air on AMC at 9 PM

August 20 – The final episode of The Astronaut Wives Club will air on ABC at 8 PM

August 21 – The season finale of Killjoys will air on Syfy at 9 PM

August 22 – The season finale of Aquarius will air at 10 PM on NBC

August 23 – The PBS mini-series Vicious returns for season two at 10 PM

August 23 – AMC will debut the new series Fear the Walking Dead at 9 PM

Show Synopsis: Set in Los Angeles, the series follows a divorced male teacher, a female guidance counselor, and her two children–a son and a daughter–in the opening stages of the zombie apocalypse as they come to terms with the impending collapse of civilization. The cast includes Kim Dickens (Friday Night Lights), Cliff Curtis (Columbiana), Frank Dillane (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince), Alycia Debnam-Carey (The 100), Elizabeth Rodriguez (Orange Is the New Black and Grimm), Ruben Blades (Do the Right Thing) and Mercedes Mason (NCIS: Los Angeles).

August 24 – Switched at Birth will be back for the rest of its fourth season on ABC Family at 8 PM

August 24 – The season finale of Devious Maids will air on Lifetime at 9 PM

August 24 – The season finale of Teen Wolf will air at 10 PM on MTV

August 24 – Murder In The First will air its season finale on TNT at 10 PM

August 25 – The new TNT period piece drama Public Morals will debut at 10 PM

Show Synopsis: The series centers on Terry Muldoon (Edward Burns from Saving Private Ryan), an officer of the Public Morals Division, which investigates vice crimes in New York City in the 1960’s. Many of Muldoon’s fellow cops in the division walk a thin line between morality and crime as vice-related temptations threaten to snare even the best of officers, including Muldoon’s partner, Charlie Bullman (Michael Rappaport from Justified). As Muldoon watches the Hell’s Kitchen streets where he grew up devoured by an escalating war within two factions of the Irish-American Mob, he becomes more determined than ever to fight back against the city’s dark underbelly so he can provide a safe place where he and his wife, Christine (Elizabeth Masucci from The Americans), can raise their family. The cast also includes Ruben Santiago-Hudson (Castle).

August 26 – The season finale of Suits will air at 9 PM followed by the season finale of Mr. Robot at 10 PM both on the USA Network

August 28 – Defiance will air its season finale at 8 PM on Syfy and the double episode season finale of Dark Matter will air at 9 and 10 PM

August 28 – The new Netflix series Narcos debuts today

Show Synopsis: The show will depict “he true story of how cocaine became such a huge problem in the U.S. and Europe – and how it all started here in Medellin. The cast includes Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones), Boyd Holbrook (Gone Girl), Manolo Cardona (Covert Affairs) and Luis Guzman (Boogie Nights) [among others].

August 29 – Hannibal will air its series finale on NBC at 10 PM

August 30 – The series finale of Falling Skies will air at 9 PM on TNT

August 31 – The final episode of The Whispers will air on ABC at 10 PM
