Surviving Comic Con 2015
Comic Con 2015 came to a close this past Sunday and what a whirlwind event it was; just like every other year.
Just like the last few years, I headed for San Diego on Tuesday morning one week ago today with several of the NiceGirlsTV staff, meeting up with even more NiceGirlsTV staff once we arrived. Our group got all of our errands completed and then we checked into the house that we have been renting for three straight years.
Before registration opened on Wednesday afternoon the NiceGirlsTV staff gathered together for our annual meet and greet lunch; and then it was off to the races with getting our badges, checking out the exhibition hall and the special screenings.
For me, my Thursday schedule consisted of the following panels: Amazon: Hand of God, the new Ron Perlman online series; a sneak peek at the NBC series The Player, starring Wesley Snipes and Strike Back’s Philip Winchester; a sneak peek and Q&A with the cast and creative minds of the TNT series The Last Ship and a panel for the new Syfy series Dark Matter.
On Friday, I had the opportunity to interview most of the cast of The CW post-apocalyptic series The 100 followed by a sneak peek at the mid-season FOX drama Lucifer and a panel for the upcoming MTV fantasy drama The Shannara Chronicles that will star legendary actor John Rhys Davies as well as actors Austin Butler and Manu Bennet; Amazon: The Man in the High Castle, based on the Hugo Award winning 1962 novel by Philip K. Dick; a Q&A with the creative minds and cast of the upcoming USA Network drama Colony and a salute to the fan favorite BBC America series Orphan Black.
Saturday was a busy day – which is typical each year – with panels for Once Upon a Time, the annual TV Guide Magazine Fan Favorites followed later in the day by panels for Grimm and Outlander. Then there was a screening of the pilot episode of The CW pandemic series Containment, ending with a big presentation by Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment – just like last year. This time around the pilot for Supergirl was screened as well as moderated panels for Arrow, The Flash and Gotham.
The final day of Comic Con 2015 was a fairly easy day with our very own Frea participating in a panel of authors talking about Modern Day Superheroes, a panel about the upcoming Heroes Reborn and, lastly, a panel with authors talking about What is Hot is Young Adult Fiction.
As quickly as the convention got started, it came to a close with all of the NiceGirls having an amazing experience and excited for next year’s event. Comic Con 2016 is set to take place from July 21 to July 24. Make sure to check out all of our coverage on this year’s event over the next few weeks (and beyond).
