Rueben's Ramblings
What to Expect on TV Next Month
Next month’s programming isn’t quite as full and busy as June, but there are still plenty of cable dramas returning for new seasons and a few interesting new made-for-TV movies as well.
Here is just a small sample of what to expect on TV next month:
Extant, starring Halle Berry (and Jeffrey Dean Morgan of Supernatural, Magic City and Grey’s Anatomy fame), will be back on CBS for a second season on July 1.
One of the most under-appreciated series currently on TV, Chasing Life, will be back with its second season starting on July 6 on ABC Family.
July 9 will see the return of the post-apocalyptic Syfy series Dominion.
The family friendly Hallmark Channel series Cedar Cove will be back for a third season on July 18.
Then there is the six-hour three-night event series Tut on Spike that will air for two hours each night on July 19, July 20 and July 21. This event series will focus on King Tut (King Tutankhamun), starring Twisted and Victorious hunk Avan Jogia and legendary actor Sir Ben Kingsley.
The Hallmark Movies & Mysteries movie Real Murders: An Aurora Teagarden Mystery, based on the popular series of books by Charlaine Harris will debut on July 26.
And then at the end of the month, on July 31, the Disney movie Descendants will debut featuring a new take on the children of some of the greatest villains, including Maleficent, the Evil Queen, Cruella de Vil and Jafar. The cast includes Dove Cameron (Liv and Maddie), Cameron Boyce (Jessie), Booboo Stewart (The Twilight franchise) and relative newcomer Sofia Carson as well as Wendy Raquel Robinson (The Game), Kathy Najimy (Sister Act) and Kristin Chenoweth (Pushing Daisies).
