Women Behind the Scenes Spotlight: Allison “Ali” Adler
Today’s Women Behind the Scenes spotlight is focused on Executive Producer and Writer Allison “Ali” Adler.
Allison is a native Californian, who got her start in the industry working on shows like Beverly Hills, 90210 and Flipper. Her big break came in 1997, though, where she worked as a co-producer on the comedy Veronica’s Closet.
From 2001 through 2003, Ali worked as a writer and producer on the animated series Family Guy; as supervising producer and writer on the sitcom Just Shoot Me! and as a writer and supervising producer on Still Standing.
Over the next few years, she was a writer and co-executive producer on the short-lived drama Life As We Know It and the short-lived series Commander in Chief as well as the co-executive producer on the short-lived dramedy Emily’s Reasons Why Not.
In 2007, she landed another big project: the fan-favorite series Chuck where she worked as a writer and co-executive producer eventually moving up to executive producer. It was in 2010 that she moved over to the short-lived drama No Ordinary Family where she worked as a writer and co-executive producer.
The following year she worked alongside Ryan Murphy and his team on the FOX musical comedy Glee, working as a writer and co-executive producer on that groundbreaking show; and she followed that up with the short-lived comedy The New Normal where she was a writer and executive producer.
Her latest project is the much-anticipated drama Supergirl that will debut this fall. She helped develop the show for TV and will be a writer and executive producer on the series alongside Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg.
Ali shares custody of her two children with her former partner actress and TV talk show host Sara Gilbert. You can follow Ali on Twitter @AliAdler.
