MODERN FAMILY: INTEGRITY {RECAP}

By  |

Modern Family continuously makes us laugh and can be a little crazy sometimes. I am getting to the point where nothing surprises me on this show! We all know Claire can be over the top sometimes, but she went a little too far in this episode. That woman will do anything for her kids! Let’s get to it!

It was awards day at school and Alex was pumped because she was going to win every academic award possible. Luke didn’t feel like going to school that day and Claire thought it was because Alex was winning awards and he wasn’t. So she did what she does best – try to fix something she had no business fixing. She went to the principal to bribe him into giving Luke an award. The principal told her that Luke was in second place for the Integrity award, but the staff already picked the winners. She tried to convince him to change his mind but he wouldn’t budge.

As she was leaving the school, she saw the student’s car (the student who was receiving the Integrity award) and took matters into her own hands – like only Claire can. She backed into his car and pushed it into a handicapped space, so it looked like he intentionally parked in a handicap spot. All so her son could get an Integrity award. That is crazy!

Cam and Mitch were both thinking about having another baby, but didn’t want to tell each other about their baby fever until they knew they both wanted a baby. Cam offered to babysit Joe to help remind Mitch how nice it is to have a baby in the house. Well that didn’t work too well because Joe came in their house like a tornado and tore up everything. They admitted that they both wanted a baby, but after tornado Joe, they both thought maybe they should wait on adding to their family.

Haley’s boss (guest star Michael Urie) is a nightmare (but oh so fabulous)! Gloria saw how mean he was to Haley and she was furious. She told Haley that she should stand up for herself. Haley said that it was hard for her because she has a reputation of not finishing anything she started and she wanted to keep her job. This job could lead to something great for Haley and she didn’t want to mess that up. Gloria understood where she was coming from and told Haley she was right. Gloria went into the office and gave Haley’s boss a piece of her mind and threatened him. As beautiful as Gloria is, she can be pretty scary when she is mad. Suddenly, Haley’s boss wasn’t so mean anymore. Go Gloria!

Surprise! Luke won the integrity award at school and he was upset about it because apparently whoever receives that award gets picked on. So Claire made matters worse for Luke. Luke accused Manny of pushing the student’s car into the handicap parking space (because Manny was mad at Luke for flirting with his crush). Manny didn’t have anything to do with it. They argued back and forth and had a pitiful fight. Claire finally broke it up and admitted that she was the one who moved the car. All that did was hurt Luke’s feelings. His own mother didn’t think he could get an award on his own so she rigged it for him. She is a hot mess.

Claire went to talk to Luke and found out the reason he didn’t want to go to school had nothing to do with awards day. He was avoiding Manny’s crush. She was the one who was flirting with him, and he told her not to call him. He didn’t want to hurt Manny’s feelings, so Luke didn’t tell him that she was interested in him. That is so sweet. Luke truly deserves the integrity award.

Quote of the night: Jay (after Gloria had Baby Joe’s toenails painted for fun) “I wanted two rough and tumble boys, but instead I got a Manny and a Pedi.” Ha!
