THE VAMPIRE DIARIES: I COULD NEVER LOVE LIKE THAT {RECAP}

After a few weeks off, the Vampire Diaries is back and there is a lot going on! Caroline and Stefan are still humanity free and enjoying it (and each other). They are providing some serious comedy and I kind of like it! Let’s get down to it!

Enzo took Sarah Salvatore to meet Uncle Stefan, and when Mama Salvatore answered the door Enzo looked spooked. For the first time on this show, I saw Enzo with fear in his eyes! Rightfully so, because we find out that it was Mama Salvatore who turned Enzo into a vampire. Small world! He tried to compel Sarah to forget she ever heard the name Salvatore, but thanks to Matt she was on vervain and it didn’t work.  She stabbed Enzo in the neck with vervain and tied him up and brought him to her photography studio. She wanted to know the truth and she wasn’t going to stop until she got it.

Caroline was singing karaoke at the library while everyone was trying to study.  A girl yelled to Caroline, “Hey Taylor Swift! We’re trying to study here!” Hilarious! Matt and Tyler walked in and saw how Stefan and Caroline were acting and tried to leave but Stefan wouldn’t let them. Caroline was taking requests and they were lucky enough to be her audience. Stefan and Caroline are a dangerous and comical pair without their humanity. Caroline decided to play “Who knows Caroline best” with them and whoever lost would die. Tyler and Matt did well, but Stefan came in at the end and won so Caroline figured she would kill them both. Crazy! Tyler fought back, but should have known better because when he tried to stake Caroline, she grabbed Matt and Tyler staked him instead. She is seriously out of control!

At the hospital, Elena and Jo were taking care of Caroline and Stefan’s other victims when Elena filled her in that Kai was stuck in a prison world for good this time. Jo was relieved and grabbed her stomach. Elena figured out that Jo is pregnant. She was happy for her and Alaric, but thought of her future and was reminded that she wouldn’t be able to have children or a human life. She still wanted to experience those things.

On the other hand, Damon was holding on to the vampirism cure that Bonnie gave him and didn’t tell Elena he had it. He wasn’t sure that she still wanted it, but mostly he was afraid that he would lose her if she took it.

Mama Salvatore had a talk with Damon and admitted that she didn’t have maternal feelings for him or Stefan anymore. She was sorry about it, and wished it was different. Damon told her that she better give the performance of her life to Stefan to get his humanity back. He gave her the ascendant to ensure that she would do her best to show her love.

Damon brought Mama Salvatore to the library, and it was perfect timing because Matt was about to bleed out. Damon told Tyler to take Matt and take his car. Stefan took one look at his mother and that humanity switch didn’t have a chance. She told Stefan a few sweet motherly things that Damon told her to say and Stefan was back. It is amazing what a mother’s love can do (even when it’s fake).

Caroline got out of there quickly because she knew if he got his humanity back, then he could try to get hers back, and that wasn’t her plan.

At the hospital, Matt refused to take Elena’s blood to heal him. He only wanted a doctor. He told Elena that he has almost died too many times from vampires that he thought were his friends. He said he can’t say he hates vampires and benefit from their blood. He is done!

Enzo let Sarah go since she promised not to pursue the Salvatore family (I think he should have compelled her for safe keeping). They have great chemistry together. I was hoping they would hook up but it didn’t happen. Maybe next week.

At the hospital Jo told Damon they needed to get the ascendant immediately. Damon had already given it to his mom. Jo fearfully told him that before the 1900’s his mother got in close with a bunch of witches that were cast out of the Gemini coven. They were called heretics. She turned them and they are witches and vampires and they siphon energy from other sources (and since they are vampires they have a constant source of energy) . They are ruthless and dangerous. Imagine six Kai’s with the bloodlust of a vampire and that is what they are. Mama Salvatore has the ascendant and wants to set her “family” free. OMG! It’s about to get real.

Quote of the night- Damon to Elena, “Well Matt lives to hate vampires another day, Stefan is on Caroline duty, and I just introduced Mom to Uber. I’m taking bets on which one goes south first. ” Ha! Damon has some awesome lines!
