THE VAMPIRE DIARIES: PRAYER FOR THE DYING {RECAP}

This episode was an emotional roller coaster! There was love, worry and death! Yes, someone dies but it’s not who you think it is! There’s a lot going on in Mystic Falls, so let’s get to it!

Colin is back! He’s now a vampire, and he found Caroline at her house (and that was just in the first 3 minutes!) Yikes! Caroline’s blood sped up Colin’s cancer so now he has stage 10 cancer (which doesn’t exist), and he’s a vampire who can’t die. Wow! Talk about a bad deal! Now the same thing is probably going to happen to Sheriff Forbes. Poor Caroline, all she wanted to do was save her mom, but instead she made matters worse.  Jo thought giving her a human blood transfusion might stabilize her cancer, but it didn’t work. Caroline felt horrible and of course she blamed herself.

Stefan found Caroline picking out flower arrangements for her mother’s memorial. He told her how he avoided his mom when she was sick, and then she died. He would give anything for just one more day with her. Caroline still had time to spend with her mom and Stefan encouraged her to do so. He was totally supportive of her. It was so sweet and a pretty cool Steroline moment.

Luke and Liv have to convince their dad to let them out of the witchy tradition of merging so they both can live past 22.  They went to dinner with their dad and told him their idea of Jo merging with Kai once her magic was strong enough but he didn’t seem to buy it.

Damon was babysitting Kai when Tyler showed up and tried to set him free (after Liv told him to stay out of it. Why don’t people listen on this show?) and Damon stopped him. But it gave Damon an idea so he knocked out Tyler and called Liv from Tyler’s phone. He asked to speak to their dad. Damon told him that he better merge his blond twins that night because Kai was going to be set free and hung up. What is he up to?

Once Kai was awake, Damon took him to the hospital to take all of the magic out of Sheriff Forbes hoping to save her. He took all of the magic out of her but she was having heart problems afterwards. Kai’s help is never free so his fee for helping Damon was to merge with Jo that night (he knew she wasn’t ready).

Liv and Luke’s father tried to trick them into merging but Tyler showed up just in time and punched their dad out. They were safe for now but Luke left and promised to be back.

Kai took Jo and after a few choice words they began the merging ceremony. Luke showed up and knocked Jo out. He told Kai he was going to merge with him. I thought only twins could merge with their twin, not any twin in their bloodline? Kai tried to pass, but Luke didn’t let him. Luke said they weren’t twins but they had the same bloodline so they were going to give it a shot. They began the merging ceremony and they both passed out.

Sheriff Forbes was still having problems and Elena gave her CPR. The doctor tried to restart her heart and she had flashbacks of saying goodbye to Caroline. She flat lined and the doctor said she was gone. Elena kept trying to do CPR just as Caroline came in and saw her mom. She begged her not to leave her and she woke up. It was heartbreaking and a huge relief all in one.

Elena was freaked out that Caroline’s mom almost died in her arms and she turned to Damon. She realized life is too short and she didn’t want to waste any more time. They shared a hell of a kiss and it looks like Delena is back on people!

Sherriff Forbes asked Stefan to be there for Caroline once she was gone. She said Caroline would need someone to help her move on with her life and make her smile. Stefan promised he would be there for her. Aww! Stefan is scoring all kinds cool points in this episode. Caroline (who was supposed to be getting coffee) overheard the whole exchange.

Jo woke up and held Luke hoping he would wake up. Whoever woke up was the winner. Unfortunately, crazy Kai woke up. Luke lost the battle. He died fighting to save his sister; he was a hero. RIP Luke, you will be missed. Get ready for the crazy because you know Kai is gonna bring it!

Fave Quote: Damon to Tyler “I could kiss you right now you beautiful Moron!”

Honorable Mention: Liv and Tyler snuggling in the bed after they obviously hooked up. They were so cute together.

Badass Moment: Damon ripped Colin’s heart out because he was miserable couldn’t die (he was literally stabbing himself with poles). RIP Colin.
