Today’s Women Behind the Scenes spotlight is focused on TV writer and executive producer Emily Fox.
A graduate of Yale, Emily got her start in the industry writing the screenplay for the 2004 box office film New York Minute that starred Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen and she was also the writer and executive producer of the 2004 unsold pilot Cooking Lessons about the life of a food critic, her co-workers and friends that was to star Gil Bellows (Ally McBeal), Lindy Booth (The Librarians), Matthew Del Negro (Scandal), Paula Marshall (Veronica Mars and Gary Unmarried) and Constance Zimmer (the upcoming Un-Real on Lifetime).
She then worked as a writer and producer during the debut season (2005-2006) of the CBS drama Ghost Whisperer. Emily married writer Peter Scott in 2005, with whom she has two children. She also wrote a television column called “Fox on the Box” for The New Haven Advocate in Connecticut.
In 2012, she was a writer and supervising producer on the short-lived ABC Family drama Jane by Design that was about a high school student who was masquerading as a twenty-something career girl, working as an assistant to a high-power, world-famous fashion designer.
This year, she is serving as the creator, executive producer and writer of the new VH1 series Hindsight that focuses on Becca, who, on the eve of her second wedding, finds herself mysteriously transported back 20 years to 1995 to the eve of her first marriage. The cast of this series includes Laura Ramsey (The Ruins), Craig Horner (Legend of the Seeker) and relative newcomer Sarah Goldberg.
