THE GOOD WIFE – 6.12 ‘The Debate’ All Chaos & No Milk

The debate is on between Alicia and Frank just before a controversial verdict is is due at any moment regarding an officer involved death. Both candidates are surrounded in a flurry of activity from their respective managers, and handlers. Our favorite Body Woman is present and offers everything to help except a glass of milk!

The absurdity of the situation is enhanced when we see the ridiculous hoops each candidate must jump through. Really? Lightning rounds? Ten second responses? It makes me ashamed to realize in our current climate of You Tube, twitter and minuscule attention spans we have created this whole mess. How horrifying!

Moments before Alicia takes the podium, Her largest client Neil Gross of Chum-Hum fame is threatening to leave, while incriminating photos have surfaced revealing his affair with Ramona. Whew! And, all this happens in the first five minutes!

Here’s how it all went down. Alicia faltered in the beginning, but rallied in the end. Both candidates acknowledged the absurdity of the entire debate format and kudos goes to Alicia for pushing back against the bullying from the press. Frank agrees, and when the debate is adjourned to the kitchen, Alicia continues to score brownie points.

With the news of the verdict released, Peter is in full Governor mode and is simultaneously trying to prevent a riot while donning his Superman cape. Once again we are shown the reality of the mob mentality and how the media and politicians only create more problems instead of solving them.

Ouch! This mirror hurts!

In the end Diane and the newly returned Cary are forced to welcome David Lee back to the firm with less than open arms in a Hail Mary pass to to keep Neil Gross as a client. Alicia is less than pleased with David’s appearance which puts her at odds with her fellow partners moving forward.

Observations:
• I loved the interaction between Alicia and Campaign Manager Johnny. Clearly she has no feelings for him but by the look on his face, he doesn’t feel the same! Interesting!

• When Alicia catches up with Peter…..

• Alicia is right. She and her opponent Frank agree on far more topics than disagree. How will this play out?
