What to Expect on TV in February
We are just now getting into January programming for the 2014-2015 TV season; and there is plenty of dramas, movies and mini-series to watch; but let’s take a quick look ahead to what viewers can expect on TV in February.
Most of the prime-time programming on the major and cable networks returned to normal in January after the holiday break, but there are still a few returning shows to look forward to next month, including the following:
The Blacklist will air a new episode after the Super Bowl on NBC on February 1. The show will then move to its new night and time on February 5 at 9 PM.
On February 3, Being Mary Jane will return to BET for its second season at 10 PM.
Nashville will be back from its winter break on February 4 on ABC at 10 PM.
On February 8, The Walking Dead will be back on AMC at 9 PM.
Rizzoli & Isles and Perception will both be back on February 17 on TNT at 9 and 10 PM respectively.
On February 18, The Mentalist will air its two-hour series finale on CBS at 8 PM.
Vikings will start its third season on February 19 on the History Channel at 10 PM.
On February 23, the season finale of Sleepy Hollow will air on FOX at 9 PM. That same night, The Night Shift will be back for its second season on NBC at 10 PM.
The two-hour season finale of How to Get Away with Murder will air on ABC on February 26 at 9 PM.
There are also the following brand new dramas debuting in February:
The new NBC drama Allegiance will debut on February 5 at 10 PM. Gavin Stenhouse stars as Alex O’Connor, a young idealistic CIA analyst specializing in Russian affairs, who learns a shocking secret about his close-knit, affluent family when it is revealed that his parents are covert Russian spies deactivated decades ago.
The two-night series open of Better Call Saul (the precursor to Breaking Bad) will debut on February 8 and 9 on AMC both nights at 10 PM. This series is set six years before Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) meets Walter White when he was known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny and hustling to make ends meet. The series will then regularly air on Monday nights at 10 PM.
The new NBC series The Slap, based on the Australian series of the same name, will debut on February 12 at 8 PM. As Hector (Peter Sarsgaard from An Education) tries to navigate family politics, awkward friendships and the young woman he is dangerously captivated by, the built-up tension explodes when Hector’s hot-headed cousin slaps another couple’s misbehaving child. Everyone is understandably stunned, and the party abruptly ends with the child’s parents vowing legal action. But what the hosts and guests don’t know is that this moment will ignite a chain of events that will uncover long-buried secrets within this group of friends and family.
The two-hour series premiere of Good Witch will air on Hallmark Channel at 8 PM on February 28. The series will take viewers on a new magical journey with Cassie Nightingale (Catherine Bell) and her bright, young-teenage daughter Grace (Bailee Madison from Once Upon a Time and Northpole), who shares her mom’s special intuitive charm. When Sam, a doctor (James Denton from Desperate Housewives), and his teenage son move in next door to Grey House, they are immediately charmed by the ‘magical’ mother-daughter duo.
Viewers can also look out for the following made-for-TV movies and Netflix favorite:
The new Hallmark Channel movie I Do, I Do, I Do will debut on February 6 at 8 PM. An architect (Autumn Reeser) heads to the altar with her fiancé, unsure of her marriage and their future. She relives her disastrous wedding day, put together by her fiancé’s overbearing mother, over and over until, with the help of his brother, she begins to face her biggest fears and discover what she really wants in herself and in her life.
The new Hallmark Channel movie So You Said Yes will debut on February 7 at 9 PM. A woman who avoids relationships opens a bridal shop with a vintage slant, and goes toe to toe with the snooty owner of the town’s classical bridal shop, only to find out she’s the mother of her new boyfriend.
On February 8, Cloudy With a Chance of Love is the new Hallmark Channel movie that will debut at 9 PM. Quirky meteorologist Deb spends most of her time finishing the passionate pursuit of her meteorology Ph.D. The wind of change starts blowing, however, when a handsome news director recruits her to fill in as an on-air weather personality. While the new job comes with a glamorous makeover that catches the eyes of both viewers and her handsome colleague, it also takes her away from her studies at a critical time. When her TV job, academic commitments and new romance swell into a perfect storm, Deb must decide if her future will be spent studying the sky, or broadcasting over the air.
The new Hallmark Channel movie All of My Heart will debut on February 14 at 9 PM. A young caterer’s life suddenly changes course when she inherits a country home and learns she must share it with a career-obsessed Wall Street trader. At first, these opposites do not attract, but feelings begin to change when they find themselves having to work side-by-side to restore their newly acquired home.
Season three of House of Cards will be available on Netflix on February 27.
