Gingerbread Abbey Honors the Return of Downton Abbey

By  |

The acclaimed international hit Downton Abbey will return to PBS for the start of its fifth season on Sunday, January 4. In honor of the show’s return and in celebration of the holidays, home improvement maven Martha Stewart and her team have created Gingerbread Abbey, a stunning likeness of the Grantham family estate made entirely of gingerbread.

Fans of the popular series, and of course Martha herself, are being encouraged to share their own creations inspired by Downton Abbey throughout the holiday season simply by using the hashtag #Gingerbread Abbey.

To see the videos of The Making of Gingerbread Abbey that includes a special appearance by Downton Abbey cast member Leslie Nicol, who plays Mrs. Patmore, as well as a tour around Martha Stewart’s New York City kitchen, fans can check out the video clip below.

Downton Abbey tells the story of the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants at the fictional Yorkshire country estate, starting in 1912 with the downing of the Titanic through World War I and leading up to 1923 to date.

Downton Abbey will be back for its fifth season on Sunday, January 4 at 9/8c on PBS.
