Ascension 1.02 – Insanity Trips & Inside Men

WARNING: This is a collection of thoughts and spoilers. I don’t usually feel the need add a disclaimer, however, if  you are reading an article about a show you haven’t watched then….you get what you get. Last nights episode was as much of a wild ride as the first.

First off, can you imagine if you were Stokes and one moment you are hurtling through space and the next you are in a straight jacket in a locked cell? There is nothing you could say that would calm me down. Nothing. The poor man fell down Alice’s Rabbit Hole and Harris didn’t even have the courtesy to provide a toke from the Hookah first.

Secondly, can we talk about Viondra’s Stewards for a second? Having them say an oath before joining cracks me up. It’s like calling a hooker an escort. It’s still sex for money or information or goods. You’re still hooking. And! Did you catch that slap on the butt she received from Rose? Condescending doesn’t even begin to describe that Potato Head! Up until this point Viondra seemed bullet-proof. In this episode the tables were decidedly turned. Dear old hubby is stepping out on her with the girl SHE brought into their bedroom and to make matters worse Rose won’t let Viondra fire her because the little minx is sleeping with HIM TOO! Well, I suppose she did learn from the best.

Lastly I have a few things to say about Harris. Listening to him talk about the project and how they are family and not test subjects is a true example of the thin line between genius and insanity. I guessed the truth about him as he was gushing over Dr. Bryce like Gollum did with the One Ring. Honestly, if he had uttered “My Precious,” I wouldn’t have been surprised at all! Re-gifting your obsessions jewelry to your wife is beyond creepy. It’s something all notable psychopaths have done, not to mention just plain creepy. Eeew!

Having a man on the inside is cheating! How exactly did Harris make that happen? Do you have a mole who then passes that information down to their child when they age so the clandestine work can be carried on? Seriously, Harris has a God Complex of the worst kind and I;m betting Christa is the one who takes him down!
