Hallmark Channel’s Mr. Miracle Comes to Help at the Holidays
Hallmark Channel viewers are already well accustomed to the Mrs. Miracle holiday movies that starred actress Doris Roberts (of Everybody Loves Raymond fame) and originally aired on the cable network in 2009 and 2010, and which have played on repeat throughout the holiday season over the last few years.
As part of the latest set of new holiday movies on the Hallmark Channel, the new movie Mr. Miracle, based on the popular Debbie Macomber book franchise, will debut on Saturday, December 6.
This time around, actor Rob Morrow (of Northern Exposure and Numb3rs fame) takes over the mantle, playing guardian angel-in-training Harry Mills, who is sent on his first assignment on Earth. He is posing as a literature teacher at a community college to help an insecure young woman named Addie Folsom (Britt Irvin from Smallville and the box office movie The Vow) to realize her true purpose in life.
Helping Harry on his mission is his angel mentor Celeste (Michelle Harrison from Continuum and Emily Owens, M.D.), who helps him navigate the world of humans and understand the rules of being a guardian angel.
Harry has a deadline before him, though. He must help Addie by Christmas Day or he will have to return to Heaven. Luckily, he is not only Addie’s teacher but also her new neighbor, as he moved into the house across the street from Addie and her mother Sharon (Sarah-Jane Redmond from Smallville).
As it turns out, Sharon and her best friend Julie Simmons (Kehli O’Byrne from the recent made-for-TV movie PopFan), mother of Addie’s childhood nemesis and neighbor Erich (Andrew Francis from the box office film The Invisible), are planning on taking a trip right before the holidays; that is until Erich is injured in a skiing accident. Rather than see her mom and Julie have to cancel their plans because of Erich’s injuries, Addie decides to bury the hatchet and help Erich so their moms can go on their cruise.
Meanwhile, Harry works hard to understand humans without breaking any of Heaven’s rules for angels and helping Addie to open up to a life full of promise and maybe even love.
Unlike Roberts’ confident and wise Mrs. Merkle, Rob Morrow’s Harry Mills (aka Mr. Miracle) is an off-beat angel. He is soft-spoken and a little bumbling but with a heart of gold. Harrison’s Celeste provides wise instruction and guidance, which is a nice change of pace from the Mrs. Miracle movies.
The cast also includes Tommy, an adorable guardian angel in dog form (for all those animal lovers out there) and actor Malcolm Stewart (from the recent Hallmark Channel movie My Boyfriends’ Dogs) as Mr. Conceito, Harry’s boss at the college.
Mr. Miracle will debut on the Hallmark Channel on Saturday, December 6 at 8/7c.
