December TV Calendar

The following list provides the dates of the returning cable and major network dramas as well as new cable and major network dramas, made-for-TV movies and mini-series that will air during December:

December 1 – The second part of the fall finale of Sleepy Hollow will air on FOX at 9 PM

December 2 – Chicago Fire will air its fall finale on NBC at 10 PM

December 2 – The new Bravo drama series Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce will debut at 10 PM

Show Synopsis: Lisa Edelstein (House) stars as Abby, a self-help author who publicly separates from her “perfect” husband (Paul Adelstein from Private Practice) and begins navigating life as a single woman. The cast also includes Beau Garrett (Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior) and Necar Zadegan (Emily Owens M.D.). The show is based on the novel by Vicki Iovine.

December 3, the fall finale of Red Band Society will air on FOX at 9 PM.

Peter Pan Live

December 4 – The airing of Peter Pan Live will debut on NBC at 8 PM

Special Synopsis: Following The Sound of Music Live, this version tells the beloved story of Peter Pan, the mischievous little boy who ran away to Neverland. The cast includes Allison Williams (Girls), screen legend Christopher Walken, Christian Borle (Smash) and Kelli O’Hara (Sex and the City 2).

December 5 – The mid-season finale of Haven will air at 7 PM while the season finale of Z Nation will air at 10 PM both on Syfy

December 5 and December 6 – The two-night, four-hour event One Child will air on Sundance TV at 9 PM (both nights)

Mini-Series Synopsis: The film follows the journey of a Chinese-born young woman adopted by British parents as she struggles in the face of crisis to determine her family loyalties, true identity and the meaning of family. The cast includes Katie Leung (the Harry Potter franchise), Elizabeth Perkins (Weeds) and Donald Sumpter (Game of Thrones).

December 6 – The Hallmark Channel original holiday movie Mr. Miracle will debut at 8 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Based on the Debbie Macomber best-selling novel franchise, this back-door pilot will star Rob Morrow (Northern Exposure and Numb3rs) as angel-in-training Harry Mills, (aka Mr. Miracle), who is sent down to a community college during Christmas for his first assignment: to help an insecure student realize her true purpose in life. Harry, living as a literature teacher, is also schooled in lessons of life and love as he realizes that dealing with humans is not as easy as it looks like from the clouds.

December 6 – The Lifetime original movie Wally Lamb’s Wishin’ and Hopin’ will debut at 8 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Based on the New York Times best-selling Christmas novel by Wally Lamb is this new movie set in the 1960s, focusing on 10-year-old Felix Funicello, who is doing his best to navigate fifth grade at St. Aloysius Gonzaga Parochial School. His father (Danny Nucci from The Fosters) runs the local diner, and their family’s claim to fame is their cousin, Annette Funicello (Krysta Rodriguez from Smash), the famous teen star and Mouseketeer. With the dreaded Christmas pageant on the horizon, the holiday season gets even more exciting with the sudden arrivals of a substitute teacher (Molly Ringwald) and a feisty Russian student. It promises to be one Christmas Felix will never forget. The film also star Meat Loaf (Fight Club), Annabella Sciorra (CSI), Cheri Oteri (Saturday Night Live), Conchata Ferrell (Two and a Half Men) and Chevy Chase as the narrator.

December 7 – Madam Secretary will air its fall finale (being pre-empted for Undercover Boss for the rest of the month) on CBS at 8 PM

December 7 – The Hallmark Channel holiday movie Christmas At Cartwright’s will debut at 8 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Nicky is a single mom, unemployed and broke at Christmas and desperate to find a job in order to make her young daughter’s holiday a happy one. With the aide of an angel, she gets a job as a department store Santa and also happens to meet the love of her life. The cast includes Alicia Witt and Wallace Shawn.

The Christmas Secret

December 7 – The Christmas Secret is the new holiday movie to debut at 9 PM on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Bethany Joy Lenz (One Tree Hill) and John Reardon (Continuum and When Calls the Heart) star in the film based on the best-selling novel by Donna VanLierre that follows a struggling single mom’s search for a lost family heirloom that she hopes will help her find love and good fortune in time for Christmas.

December 7 – Resurrection and Revenge will air their fall finales on ABC at 9 and 10 PM respectively

December 7 – The new TNT series The Librarians, based on the popular made-for-TV movie franchise, will air its 2-hour debut at 8 PM

Show Synopsis: Noah Wyle (Falling Skies) reprises his role of Flynn Carsen in this new weekly series based on the popular made-for-TV movies that will find Rebecca Romijn (X-Men franchise), Christian Kane (Leverage), Lindy Booth (October Road and Copper), John Kim (Neighbours), Matt Frewer (Eureka and Orphan Black) and John Larroquette (Night Court) as part of the cast. The show centers on an ancient organization hidden beneath Gotham’s Metropolitan Public Library, dedicated to protecting an unknowing world from the secret, magical reality hidden around them.

December 7 – The new ION holiday movie Merry Ex-Mas will debut at 8 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: When misleading photos are published of security company chief Jessie Rogers purportedly caught in a love nest with his rock star client, his humiliated wife, Noëlle, throws him out of the house and swiftly files for divorce. Unable to convince her of his innocence, Jessie fights in vain to win Noëlle back. A year later at the family ski cabin, a Christmastime blizzard snow bounds Jessie, his daughter, ex-mother-in-law, Noëlle and her wealthy suitor, Flynn, who is plotting a surprise wedding. The cast includes Dean Cain, Kristie Swanson, Lochlyn Munro, Ernie Hudson and Jodi Lyn O’Keefe.

Red Tent

December 7 and 8 – The Lifetime two-night mini-series The Rent Tent will air at 9 PM (both nights)

Mini-Series Synopsis: The mini tells the sweeping tale that takes place during the times of the Old Testament, told through the eyes of Dinah, the daughter of Leah and Jacob. It begins with Dinah’s (Rebecca Ferguson from The White Queen) happy childhood spent inside the red tent where the women of her tribe gather and share the traditions and turmoil of ancient womanhood. The film recounts the story of Dinah’s mothers Leah (Minnie Driver), Rachel (Morena Baccarin from Firefly and Homeland), Zilpah and Bilhah, the four wives of Jacob (Iain Glen from Game of Thrones). Dinah matures and experiences an intense love that subsequently leads to a devastating loss, and the fate of her family is forever changed. Debra Winger (Terms of Endearment) portrays Rebecca, Jacob’s mother while Tudor stars as Joseph, Dinah’s brother.

December 8 – A special Christmas episode of Switched at Birth and The Fosters will air at 8 and 9 PM respectively on ABC Family

December 8 – Castle will air its fall finale on ABC at 10 PM

December 8 – The fall finale of The Originals will air at 8 PM on The CW

December 9 – The fall finales of The Flash and Supernatural will air on The CW at 8 and 9 PM respectively

December 9 – Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will air its fall finale at 9 PM on ABC

December 9 – The series finale of Sons of Anarchy will air on FX at 10 PM

December 9 – The Christmas episodes of Pretty Little Liars and Chasing Life will air on ABC Family at 8 and 9 PM respectively

December 10 – The 6-part mini-series The Game will come to a close on BBC America at 10 PM

December 10 – Kingdom will air its season finale on DirecTV at 10 PM

December 10 – The fall finales of the NBC dramas The Mysteries of Laura, Law & Order: SVU and Chicago P.D. will air at 8, 9 and 10 PM respectively

December 10 – The fall finale of Nashville will air at 10 PM on ABC

December 10 – Arrow will air its fall finale on The CW at 8 PM

Reign

December 11 – The Vampire Diaries and Reign will air their fall finales at 8 and 9 PM respectively on The CW

December 11 – Bones will air its fall finale (which is also its 200th episode) followed by the final episode of Gracepoint on FOX at 8 and 9 PM respectively

December 12 – The fall finale of Grimm will air at 9 PM on NBC

December 12 – The Netflix drama Marco Polo will debut

Show Synopsis: The series is set in China in the 1200s, in a world replete with astonishing martial arts, sexual intrigue, political skullduggery and spectacular battles. The cast includes Italian newcomer Lorenzo Richelmy, Benedict Wong (Prometheus), Zhu Zhu (Cloud Atlas), Tom Wu (Skyfall), Remy Hii (Treading Water) and Rick Yune (Olympus Has Fallen).

December 13 – The Santa Con is a new original holiday movie that will debut on Lifetime at 8 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Small-time con man Nick DeMarco (Barry Watson from 7th Heaven) is ordered by his parole officer to take a minimum-wage job as a department store Santa during the holidays and he hates it. Near the end of his first shift, he hastily promises a young boy that Santa will bring his estranged parents back together by Christmas. When his sister Rosemary (Melissa Joan Hart from Melissa and Joey) hears this, she is livid and can’t believe he would break a little boy’s heart with an empty promise. After a long night of soul searching, Nick decides to make good on his promise to the child, somehow. But after meeting the boy’s mother Carol (Melissa Sagemiller from Law & Order: Special Victims Unit), will Nick ultimately choose to put the happiness of others ahead of his own? The cast includes Jaleel White (Family Matters), Scott Grimes (Party of Five) and John Ratzenberger (Cheers).

December 13 – The new ION movie A Christmas Kiss II will debut at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: At a Christmastime event, Jenna shares an impromptu, unforgettable kiss under the mistletoe with the dashing Cooper Montgomery, a billionaire playboy who recently returned to the city. Although she doesn’t know him, Cooper learns that Jenna works for Cooper’s sister at the designer fashion house founded by their dad. Fearful of getting hurt in another relationship, Jenna vows to resist Cooper’s charms and feigns a romance with her heartbroken next door neighbor. As the two begin spending more time together, Jenna realizes that Cooper’s affection is real, but still worries that he won’t be able to shed his former ways. The cast includes Elisabeth Harnois, Adam Mayfield, Elisabeh Rohm and Jonathan Bennett.

December 13 – Best Christmas Party Ever is the new Hallmark Channel holiday movie that will debut at 8 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Jennie, an up-and-coming event planner, is shocked to find out that her boss intends to hand her business over to her nephew, Nick, instead of Jennie. Tensions run high when Jennie is forced to train Nick and plan for the biggest party of the holiday season. The film stars Torrey DeVitto (Pretty Little Liars).

Once Upon a Time Regina

December 14 – The fall finale of Once Upon a Time will air on ABC at 8 PM

December 14 – A Perfect Christmas List is a new ION holiday movie that will debut at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Just two weeks before Christmas, Sara Smith gets a call from home about her grandmother Evie, who has been sent to the hospital. Having always been close, the health scare is enough to get Sara to do the unthinkable: come home for Christmas. While Sara plans to get a hotel room for her stay, her mother won’t allow it. Sara eventually relents, but it’s clear that time has not repaired their relationship, and her mother returns to her overbearing ways. With her handsome doctor’s approval, the convalescing Evie conjures up a curious challenge. As a “last wish,” she tasks her daughter and granddaughter with a list of festive accomplishments to do together before Christmas, hoping that the adventure of the experience will repair their relationship. Along the way, Sara discovers an unlisted Christmas adventure with Evie’s physician. The cast includes Ellen Hollman, Marion Ross, Aaron Hill, Beth Broderick and Richard Karn.

December 14 – The series finale of The Newsroom will air on HBO at 9 PM

December 14 – The new Hallmark Channel holiday movie The Christmas Parade will debut at 8 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: A popular network morning host finds herself humiliated on the air by her fiancé and disappears to a small town. While there, she helps a budding artist save a community art center for the town’s kids, by helping them with their float for the annual Christmas Parade. The film stars AnnaLynne McCord (90210), Jefferson Brown (Rookie Blue) and Drew Scott (Property Brothers).

December 15 – The season premiere of Hart of Dixie will air on The CW at 8 PM followed by the fall finale of Jane the Virgin at 9 PM

NOTE: Hart of Dixie will then return, after a short break for the holidays, for its new season starting on January 9.

December 15 – The fall finale of NCIS: Los Angeles will air at 10 PM on CBS

Ascension NEW

December 15, 16 and 17 – The new Syfy drama Ascension will air at 9 PM each night

Show Synopsis: The drama follows a covert U.S. space mission launched in the 1960’s that sent hundreds of men, women and children on a century-long voyage aboard the starship Ascension to populate a new world. Half way into their journey, as they approach the point of no return, the mysterious murder of a young woman causes the ship’s population to question the true nature of their mission. The cast includes Brian Van Holt (Cougar Town), Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica), Gil Bellows (Ally McBeal), Ryan Robbins (Sanctuary) and Andrea Roth (Rescue Me).

December 16 – The fall finales of NCIS and NCIS: New Orleans will air on CBS at 8 and 9 PM

December 17 – The fall finale of The 100 will air at 9 PM on The CW

December 18 – The series finale of White Collar will air on the USA Network at 9 PM

White Collar

December 20 – The new holiday ION movie Back to Christmas will debut at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Saddened about spending another Christmas alone, Ali meets Ginny, a quirky and spunky woman, at a diner on Christmas Eve. Ali tells Ginny that she was to be married on New Year’s Eve last year, but over the course of the holidays she and her fiancé unexpectedly split. When Ali explains that she would do everything differently if she could go back in time, Ginny tells her that “sometimes people do get second chances.” The following morning, Ali wakes up to find herself transported back to that Christmas before her planned wedding. While she sets out to avoid the mistakes of her past, she learns that changing the course of history is no easy task. The cast includes Kelly Overton and Michael Muhney.

December 21 – Homeland and The Affair will air their season finales on Showtime at 9 and 10 PM respectively

December 25 – The Call the Midwife holiday special will air on PBS at 8 PM

Special Synopsis: The nurses and nuns of Nonnatus House try to have a happy holiday between births and preparing for the Sunday School Christmas concert. This is a bonus episode that finds narrator Vanessa Redgrave appearing as the mature Jennifer Worth for the first time.

December 25 – The Christmas episode of Doctor Who should air on BBC America today (check your local listings for the airtime)
