Today’s Women Behind the Scenes spotlight is focused on producer and writer Barbie Kligman.

Barbie got her start in television, working as a writer on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in 2003 following that up with working as a writer and story editor in 2004 for the short-lived drama Jack & Bobby.

The following TV season found Barbie moving over to the acclaimed family drama Everwood where she worked as an executive story editor and writer. This led her to being a writer and producer on the 2007 short-lived drama Hidden Palms.

The next year she landed a position as writer and supervising producer on CSI: NY and she was part of the production team for that CBS drama for two seasons.

It was in 2009 where she worked on the popular CW series The Vampire Diaries, serving as a writer and co-executive producer for the show’s debut season. For the next two TV seasons she worked on the Grey’s Anatomy spin-off series Private Practice, working as a writer and co-executive producer, which later led to being an executive producer.

Last year she served as a co-executive producer on the short-lived drama Lucky 7 and will serve as a writer and executive producer next year on the ABC adaptation of the Australian crime mystery drama Secrets & Lies that will star Ryan Phillippe as a family man who finds the body of a young boy and quickly becomes the prime murder suspect.
