ABC Family Announces “Stitchers”
ABC Family just sent over the press release for a new procedural titled “Stitchers”. As I read over the synopsis for the series, I couldn’t help noticing the striking similarities between this story and Charlaine Harris’s “Harper Connelly” book series. Don’t get me wrong, since the Harper Connelly series was not picked up for television, I’m glad that something like it can be viewed. I just wish it was Harper Connelly.
Here is the synopsis for Harper Connelly. The bold is mine:
Harper Connelly has what you might call a strange job: she finds dead people. She can sense the final location of a person who has passed, and share their very last moment. The way Harper sees it, she’s providing a service to the dead while bringing some closure to the living – but she’s used to most people treating her like a blood-sucking leech. Traveling with her step-brother Tolliver as manager and sometime-bodyguard, she’s become an expert at getting in, getting paid, and getting out fast. Because for the living it’s always urgent – even if the dead can wait forever.
Now check out the synopsis for “Stitchers”. Again, the bold is mine:
“Stitchers” is a procedural drama series written by Jeffrey A. Schechter (“Overruled!”). “Stitchers” follows a young woman recruited into a covert government agency to be ‘stitched’ into the minds of the recently deceased using their memories to investigate murders and decipher mysteries that otherwise would have gone to the grave.
Mhmm, that’s what I mean. There are just enough differences to make it legal, but … In any case, I am excited about this and I look forward to checking it out.
The pilot for “Stitchers” was written by Jeffrey A. Schechter, who will executive produce alongside Jonathan Baruch and Rob Wolken. We’ll keep you all posted as this progresses!
