LIFETIME’S PETALS ON THE WIND IS NOW AVAILABLE ON DVD!

After the success of Flowers In The Attic, Lifetime followed up with the sequel Petals On The Wind, which is based on the second book in V.C. Andrews’ best-selling Flowers in the Attic series.

Petals On The Wind continues the story of the Dollanganger family 10 years after siblings Cathy (Rose McIver), Christopher (Wyatt Nash) and Carrie (Bailey Buntain) escaped the attic where their grandmother Olivia (Ellen Burstyn) and their mother Corinne (Heather Graham) kept them locked away.

The Dollanganger children are all grown up and trying to put their painful past behind them. Cathy went to New York to pursue her dream of becoming a ballerina, her brother (and lover) Christopher now studies medicine and Carrie has difficulty overcoming being shy at an all-girl school.

The three children all have new love interests and this story becomes more twisted than you can imagine when they realize some things from their past cannot be buried. Pregnancy, domestic violence, bullying, a miscarriage and suicide are just a few subjects touched on in this dramatic sequel.

Rose McIver (Cathy) holds her own as a leading lady, and Academy Award Winner Ellen Burstyn is just as sour as she was in the first movie (even though we don’t see her as much). The cast did well in this adaptation of the book (there were a few differences from the book). It is definitely worth a watch!

Overall this was a good follow-up to Flowers In The Attic and it looks like Lifetime might keep the Dollenganger Family story alive because they are in development on V.C. Andrews’ books “If There Be Thorns” and “Seeds of Yesterday.” Fans of the Flowers In The Attic series have more of this story to look forward to.
