Web Series Spotlight: The New Adventures of Peter and Wendy and Classic Alice

By  |

Peter and WendyAbout two weeks ago thanks to the Facebook post made by a friend, I stumbled upon two new web series featuring characters from classic literature revised to modern times; and I knew I had to share the discovery with our readers here at NiceGirlsTV.

The first new web series is The New Adventures of Peter and Wendy, which is a modern adaptation of the timeless novel “Peter and Wendy” by legendary author J.M. Barrie. The second web series is Classic Alice that tells the story of Alice Rackham, a college student with a huge drive to succeed; but when she gets a bad grade on an essay because she isn’t emotionally connecting to material, she decides to take it a step further and live her life according to classic novels.

Here is a trailer for The New Adventures of Peter and Wendy:

This new version of Peter and Wendy takes place in Neverland, Ohio, a town where nothing and no one ever really changes. Peter Pan is a late 20-something-slacker-man-child who would rather play video games and make art instead of paying the bills. Growing up to him is just this dark, overwhelming shadow. Wendy, on the other hand, is a motivated go-getter of an advice columnist who wants to move away to the Big City and make a name for herself. Their will-they-won’t-they vibe is put to the test because we all have to grow up sometime… right?

The cast of The New Adventures of Peter and Wendy include Kyle Walters as Peter Pan; Paula Rhodes as Wendy Darling; Brennan Murray as Michael Darling; Graham Kurtz as John Darling and Lovlee Carroll as Lily Bagha. And the main creative force behind the web series includes the aforementioned Walters (creator and producer), Shawn deLoache (creator and writer) and Adam Laupus (producer).

The web series will consist of 24 episodes, airing twice weekly with 15 episodes already aired as well as a prologue that introduced this new world. Those episodes and much more can be found here.

And, here is a teaser for Classic Alice:

Classic Alice focuses on Alice Rackham, a smart and well-mannered student at the prestigious Valeton University, who has an affinity for Poe, the Russians and Twain and wants to be a writer; and her filmmaker friend Andrew Prichard, who comes from a well-to-do background which he isn’t all that okay with.

The cast of this web series includes Kate Hackett as Alice Rackham; Tony Noto as Andrew Prichard; Elise Cantu as Cara Graves (Alice’s math-major roommate) and Gentry White as Josh, the resident advisor for Alice’s dorm.

Classic Alice comes from Kate Hackett Productions and Bam! Produced. The web series debuted on March 4 with two prequel episodes and about 10 episodes to date. Classic Alice is currently on a break, but is expected to be back with new episodes starting on August 5. You can see the videos and learn more about this web series here.
