MODERN FAMILY RECAP: THE WEDDING PART 1
It’s finally Cam and Mitch’s wedding day! Yay! Cam and Mitch wake up to find Pepper and his man/assistant in their bedroom with breakfast in bed for the grooms. It was important for them to have a nice, relaxing morning on their big day (does that ever really happen?). Cam realized the cleaners gave him the wrong clothes and he didn’t have his tuxedo. Ahh! The pre-wedding shenanigans have begun!
Cam and Mitch go to the cleaners and it was closed due to a family emergency. Now Cam freaked. They couldn’t get in touch with the owner so Cam called 911 and then got upset that their emergency wasn’t big enough for them, and the 911 operators needed an attitude adjustment. It was funny, over the top and totally Cam! They noticed a big mail slot and Mitch knew he couldn’t fit in there. After going back and forth, Lily told her Dads that they exhaust her and she climbed in the mail slot. Once inside they told her how to work the conveyor belt and she did, but her shirt got caught on a hook and she went for a ride around the store. Cam and Mitch watched from the window in more of a panic.
Pepper called because there was a little problem at the venue. There was a wildfire nearby so they moved up the wedding from 5pm to 1pm, which meant Cam and Mitch (as well as everyone else) needed to be there in 1 hour. Pepper told them not to worry because the fire was 28% contained. Really? Woo-sah! They still needed to get Cam’s tux and luckily Lily set off the alarm in the store and the owner came. They got the tux and got out of there!
Jay was at the man spa with Cam’s father Merle when they got the text message that they needed to be there in an hour. I was glad to see that Jay was planning on going to the wedding after his previous argument with Mitch.
Claire was picking up Luke from a wilderness retreat when she got the message. They were in a boat so she could spend some time with her son. Since her mother, Dede, couldn’t make it to Cam and Mitch’s wedding, she was feeling emotional about her mother/son relationship. She didn’t want him to grow up and not care if she was at his wedding or not. He reassured her that he would be sad if she didn’t come to his wedding and so would Kate. Kate Upton that is. Apparently she is Luke’s future wife! Hilarious!
Phil and Alex were at the mall picking up the wedding gift for Cam and Mitch (after she took him to the eye doctor). Phil wanted to play around and have fun trying on silly hats and Alex wanted to get the gift and get out of there. Once they saw how long the line at customer service was, Phil decided to act like he was blind (since his eyes were dilated and he had on funny glasses). He walked up to the front and the woman let him cut in line. Alex stayed away until the clerk started to mess with Phil and accuse him of not being blind. Alex went off on that guy and used her intelligence to tell him what disease Phil had that caused him to be blind. It was awesome and a great father/daughter moment between Alex and Phil.
Hayley was in the car with Andy the nanny on his way to the airport. He was going to Utah to see his girlfriend that he always talks about. Haley saw a text on his phone from her that asked him not to come. He brushed it off and said she does that because she likes the drama. Hayley felt bad for him because he is such a nice guy. She tried to encourage him to stay but he was not going to change his mind about going. I found myself rooting for them to get together. Hayley needs a nice guy in her life (don’t we all). They stopped for coffee when Haley got the text message to be there in an hour, so she rushed away.
Gloria was doing Cam’s mother’s hair (she confided in Gloria that she was having problems with Cam’s father) when she got the text. She started to panic because she was supposed to do Haley’s and Claire’s hair and makeup (she was the best man or best person as she said) as well as her own. Ahhh!
At the venue, Cam and Mitch looked great and somehow the guests arrived on time. Lily looked adorable in her princess costume. The setting was beautiful. They saw their friend Sal (Elizabeth Banks) who was going to officiate the wedding and she was big and pregnant. She claimed to be four months pregnant because that is how long she has been with her current boyfriend. She wasn’t fooling anyone but the boyfriend. She looked like she was going to give birth at the wedding (I hope that doesn’t happen next week). Everything was all set for the ceremony to begin! Cam and Mitch started walking down the aisle when a fireman came and told them the wildfires were getting close and they had to evacuate. What a way to leave us hanging until part two next week.
