By  |

Raelle TuckerToday’s Women Behind the Scenes spotlight is shone on playwright, television writer and producer Raelle Tucker.

Raelle hails from Ibiza, Spain, growing up as the daughter of a playwright and costume designer. At the age of 17, she moved to Los Angeles where she worked as a waitress for 11 years while working on her “great American screenplay”. She eventually attended the American Film Institute’s prestigious Directing Workshop for Women where she wrote and directed the short film “The Clay Man”.

In 2004, she was featured on the HBO series Project Greenlight where her screenplay “Cheeks” was a top three finalist. That exposure helped launch her television career.

She worked on the short-lived series Eyes as a writer in 2005 before moving over to Supernatural where she was part of the writing staff for two seasons. In 2006, she landed a job on the writing staff of the HBO hit series True Blood where she worked for six seasons. Over the years, she worked as a supervising producer, a co-producer, producer, co-executive producer and lastly an executive producer.

Raelle will next work alongside Carlton Cuse (co-showrunner of Bates Motel and the juggernaut that was Lost) on the A&E adaptation of the French zombie drama The Returned. Cuse wrote the first episode of the American version of the series while he and Tucker will write and executive produce the 10-episode series together.

Throughout her career, Raelle has been nominated for Emmy, Golden Globe, GLAAD, Writer’s Guild and Producer’s Guild awards, winning a Constellation Award for Best Science Fiction Teleplay and a Women’s Image Network Award for Outstanding Film/Show Writer.
