Here are the casting couch features for the past two weeks:
Actor Columbus Short, whose character Harrison Wright has been on the show since season 1, will not be returning for Scandal‘s upcoming fourth season. Scandal was just recently renewed for another season by ABC.
Actor Kenneth Mitchell (Jericho) has joined the ABC period drama The Astronaut Wives Club that will follow a group of women who support their star-bound husbands during the 1960s space race. Mitchell will play Wisconsin farm boy and WWII flyer Deke Slayton, one of the original Mercury Seven astronauts. When a medical condition prevents him from going into space, he becomes a powerful voice in the space program. The Astronaut Wives Club is expected to debut in early 2015 on ABC.
Actress Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica) will star in the new six-hour event series Ascension that will air on Syfy. The series will follow what happened in 1963 when the U.S. government launched a covert space mission sending hundreds of men, women and children on a century-long voyage aboard the starship Ascension to populate a new world. Nearly 50 years into the journey, as they approach the point of no return, the mysterious murder of a young woman causes the ship’s population to question the true nature of their mission. Syfy has not been given Ascension an official airdate quite yet.
Actor Timothy Busfield (thirtysomething) will have a recurring role as Benjamin Franklin on Sleepy Hollow when it returns for its second season this fall on FOX. This version of Franklin will be a mentor of Ichabod Crane (series lead Tom Mison), who is also involved in the “secret war” within the American Revolution. Sleepy Hollow will be back this fall on FOX.
Actor Daniel Sharman (Teen Wolf) will have a major role on The Originals for the show’s second season. He will play Kaleb, the handsome, devilish and charming new witch in the French Quarter’s coven. The season finale of The Originals will air this Tuesday, May 13 on The CW; and the show will be back for its seconds season this fall.
Actor Christian Cooke (the short-lived BBC supernatural drama Demons) has joined the cast of Witches of East End, playing a stranger who arrives in town. Witches of East End will be back on Lifetime starting on July 6.
