Rueben's Ramblings
I’m Off to Wonder Con Again
This will be my fourth straight year attending Wonder Con and the third straight year that the event has been held in Anaheim rather than its typical home in San Francisco. Back in 2012, the annual fete was moved to the convention center in Anaheim because the convention center in San Francisco was undergoing renovations. Rather than cancel the event, the coordinators decided to move its locale; and while it is my understanding that the renovations have been completed in San Francisco, Wonder Con is still being held in Anaheim.
Not one to complain when a cool TV event is held in – or close to – Los Angeles, I eagerly awaited the arrival of an email notifying me that I was, once again, able to register as press for the convention and that reservations at the nearby hotels could be made. Then it was the wait for the schedule to be announced, which happened last week.
Granted, Wonder Con is NOT Comic Con (and for that so many of us are VERY thankful) and that also means there aren’t as many attendees (thank God!), but just as jam-packed schedules for the three-day event.
The big event will happen this coming – Easter – weekend April 18 to April 20 with plenty of special guests, cool screenings and loads of “stuff” to check out in the Exhibition Hall. Among the panels for which yours truly will – hopefully – be checking out include the TV shows Star-Crossed, Falling Skies, The 100 and Once Upon a Time as well as the upcoming new summer shows Legends and The Last Ship. Those aren’t the only TV shows coming to Wonder Con, mind you, but the panels that I feel confident I can get into based on how the schedule is set.
Other TV shows that will be on hand include Salem, the new WGN America thriller starring Nikita alum Shane West and Human Target alum Janet Montgomery and NBC’s Revolution. There will also be a panel featuring showrunners from some TV Guide’s fan favorite TV shows as well as plenty of panels about comic books, spotlights on artists and authors, behind the scenes looks at how to make comic books, books, movies and TV and so much more.
You can check out the schedule for all three days here: Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Besides the TV show panels, I hope to get into the room for a look at Nobility, a new web series that stars sci-fi babe Claudia Christian, a salute to author Kiera Cass and several panels featuring writers of various TV shows.
Look for coverage of Wonder Con 2014 coming very soon here at NiceGirlsTV from Louise and myself (and quite possibly Mel, our very own editor-in-chief).
