April TV Calendar
The following list provides the dates of the returning cable and major network dramas as well as new cable and major network dramas, made-for-TV movies and mini-series that will air during April:
April 3 – The series finale of Once Upon a Time in Wonderland will air at 8 PM on ABC
April 3 – The Red Road mini-series on Sundance will air its season finale at 9 PM
April 4 – Continuum will return for its third season on Syfy at 10 PM
April 4 – The CBS series Unforgettable will be back on CBS at 8 PM
April 5 – Lucky in Love is the new Hallmark Channel movie that will debut at 7 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: For Mira Simon (Jessica Szohr from Gossip Girl) it feels like a prank when all of her dreams start coming true on April Fool’s Day. An April Fool, however, she is not: after three of her own tricks materialize, Mira finds herself promoted to the perfect job, dating the perfect man and living in the perfect home. Her huge promotion even allows her to work directly with her professional hero, CEO Erin Billings (Deidre Hall) and her friend, Jonah (Benjamin Hollingsworth from Signed Sealed Delivered), on a massive social media website relaunch. Even though it’s the life she’s always dreamed of, Mira starts to realize that actually living this dream is much harder than she imagined.
April 6 – The new AMC period piece Turn will air its 90-minute series debut at 9 PM
Show Synopsis: Set in the summer of 1778, this new series tells the story of New York farmer Abe Woodhull (Jamie Bell from Billy Elliot), who bands together with a group of childhood friends to form The Culper Ring, an unlikely group of spies who turn the tide in America’s fight for independence. The cast includes Kevin McNally (Pirates of the Caribbean franchise), JJ Feild (Austenland), Angus Macfayden (Braveheart) and Amy Gumenick (Supernatural).
April 6 – Game of Thrones will be back for a new season on HBO at 9 PM
April 7 – The season finale of Bitten will air on Syfy at 8 PM followed by the series finale (yes, the very last episode ever!) of Being Human will air at 9 PM and the season finale of Lost Girl will follow at 10 PM
April 8 – The season finale of Justified will air on FX at 10 PM
April 10 – Suits will air its season finale on the USA Network at 9 PM
April 10 – Reign will return with new episodes on The CW at 9 PM
April 12 – The Syfy TV movie Bermuda Tentacles will debut at 9 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: When Air Force One goes down over the Bermuda Triangle, the Navy sends its best rescue team. But in saving the President, the team awakens a monster which threatens America’s entire Eastern Seaboard and, ultimately, the world. Linda Hamilton will star.
April 12 – The BBC America drama Ripper Street will air its finale at 9 PM
April 12 – The one-hour special Orphan Black: The Cloneversation, hosted by Wil Wheaton, will air on BBC America at 8 PM
April 13 – The MTV Movie Awards will air on, of course, MTV at 9 PM
April 13 – The second season of the PBS 4-part mini-series The Bletchley Circle will debut at 10 PM
NOTE: The mini-series will air on PBS for four (4) weeks straight.
April 13 – The final season of Mad Men will start its run on AMC at 10 PM
NOTE: Only the first half of the final season of this series will air this spring. The last half of the final season will air next spring.
April 14 – The mid-season finale of Dallas will air on TNT at 9 PM
April 14 – The final season of Warehouse 13 will start on Syfy at 9 PM
April 14 – The new anthology series Metal Hurlant Chronicles will debut on Syfy at 10 and 10:30 PM
Show Synopsis: Based on the popular comic of the same name, each of the 12 episodes (from season 1 and season 2) takes place on a different planet with a different cast, linked together by the presence of an asteroid, which plays a vital role in their lives and the future of their civilization. The cast includes James Marsters (Buffy, the Vampire Slayer and Caprica), Joe Flanigan (Stargate Atlantis), Michael Jai White (Arrow) and legendary actor Rutger Hauer.
April 15 – The Originals will return from a short break on The CW at 8 PM
April 15 – The new FX drama Fargo – based on the box office film – will debut at 10 PM
Show Synopsis: Billy Bob Thornton will play Lorne Malvo, a manipulative man who meets a small town insurance salesman and sets him on a path of destruction. The cast includes Kate Walsh (Private Practice), Colin Hanks (Roswell), Martin Freeman (Sherlock), Adam Goldberg (Saving Private Ryan), Rachel Blanchard (Clueless) and newcomer Allison Tolman.
April 17 – The Vampire Diaries will be back with new episodes on The CW at 8 PM
April 17 – The season finale of Parenthood will air on NBC at 10 PM
April 17 – The season finale of Scandal will air on ABC at 10 PM
April 19 – The second season of Orphan Black will air its season premiere on BBC America at 9 PM
April 19 – The Hallmark Channel original movie A Lesson In Romance will debut at 7 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Money can’t buy happiness for career-driven mom Megan Mills (Kristy Swanson from Psych), or her family. Even a multi-million dollar windfall from a company merger is not enough to make up for the time that Megan lost with her husband, Mike (Scott Grimes from ER) and her twin children, Sean (Paul Butcher from Zooey 101) and Zoe (Allie Gonino from The Lying Game), while building a career. When Mike leaves her and joins Sean and Zoe in college, Megan realizes she must take drastic measures to bring her family back together. In order to save her marriage and reconnect with her children, she enrolls alongside them as a college undergrad. Megan quickly discovers that rebuilding her family while surviving freshman year is going to take much more than just business prowess and school spirit.
April 19 – The Lifetime original movie A Day Late and a Dollar Short will debut at 8 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Based on the New York Times bestseller by Terry McMillian the film stars Whoopi Goldberg as irascible matriarch Viola Price, who learns that her next asthma attack will likely kill her. Because of that she is determined to fix her fractured family before she leaves this world. The cast includes Mekhi Phifer (Torchwood), Kimberly Elise (Diary of a Mad Black Woman), Anika Noni Rose (Dreamgirls) and Tichina Arnold (Everybody Hates Chris).
April 19 – The BBC America special The Real History of Science Fiction, Robots will air at 10 PM
SPECIAL SYNOPSIS: The special delves into the real history of science fiction with filmmakers, writers, actors, and graphic artists looking back on their experiences and on how their obsession and imagination has taken them into the unknown. Among some of the famous faces taking part in the special include actors William Shatner, Nathan Fillion, Zoe Saldana, Richard Dreyfuss, David Tennant, Christopher Lloyd, Karen Gillan, Scott Bakula, Nichelle Nichols and Edward James Olmos as well as creative minds such as Steven Moffat, Chris Carter, Ronald D Moore John Carpenter and Neil Gaiman.
April 20 – The first drama to air on the cable channel WGN America, the period piece Salem will debut at 10 PM
Show Synopsis: The series revolves around the infamous trials of witches in Salem, Massachusetts in the 17th century. The cast includes Janet Montgomery (Human Target), Shane West (Nikita), Seth Gabel (Fringe and Arrow), Ashley Madekwe (Revenge) and Xander Berkeley (Nikita).
April 20 – Devious Maids will air its second season premiere on Lifetime at 10 PM
April 20 – The new Hallmark Channel drama Signed, Sealed, Delivered will debut at 8 PM
Show Synopsis: The series, based on the 2013 made-for-TV movie of the same name, follows the lives of four postal workers who transform themselves into an untraditional team of detectives to track down intended recipients of undeliverable mail The cast includes Eric Mabius (Ugly Betty), Kristin Booth (The Kennedys), Crystal Lowe (Smallville) and Geoff Gustafson (Primeval: New World).
April 20 – The new Hallmark Hall of Fame movie In My Dreams will debut on ABC at 9 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Nick (Mike Vogel from Under the Dome) and Natalie (Katharine McPhee from Smash) are the perfect couple, but there are a couple of things blocking their path to romantic bliss. First, they’ve never actually met, except in their dreams. Second, they have precisely seven days to turn those sweet dreams into romantic reality. The cast includes JoBeth Williams.
April 23 – The original UP Channel movie Apple Mortgage Cake will debut at 7 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Kimberly Elise (Diary of a Mad Black Woman) will star in the fact-based movie as Angela Logan, a single working mother with three teenage boys who juggles various jobs and provides employment counseling at the local mission. When her home is put into foreclosure, she decides to back 100 apple cakes and sell them to save her home. As word of the bake sale spreads, so does her story, eventually making international headlines.
April 24 – The new ABC drama Black Box will debut at 10 PM
Show Synopsis: Catherine Black (Kelly Reilly from Sherlock Holmes) is a world-famous neurologist at the state-of-the-art medical institution known as “The Cube”. She’s a brilliant doctor hiding a secret: she’s bipolar. Each week the doctors on staff attempt to unravel the mysterious of the brain and constantly challenging cases. The cast will also include Terry Kinney (Oz) and legendary actress Vanessa Redgrave.
April 26 – The second part of the 4-part BBC America special The Real History of Science Fiction focusing on Space will air at 10 PM
April 28 – The Following will air its season finale on FOX at 9 PM
