STAR-CROSSED Recap: Stabbed With A White Wench’s Black Eye

Does anyone else wish they lived in a town with as many functions as the shows on the CW? I’m not complaining because having a formal ball on Star-Crossed this week means we get to see everyone all dressed up and they sure do clean up nice.

Grayson’s family is throwing their annual charity ball and Grayson asks Emery to go as his date. She agrees. Of course this is the perfect opportunity for the Trags to do some damage so Zoe (Atrian with no markings) gets Drake an invite. Roman is keeping an eye on Drake so when he sees Drake is going to the ball he invites himself along as Drake’s plus one.

The boys show up looking ridiculously attractive in their black on black tuxes. Roman goes looking for Emery but instead finds Grayson. Earlier in the episode Roman found out Grayson’s parents were the leaders of the Red Hawks. He confronts Grayson and Grayson makes it all about Emery. He says he has something Roman wants. The way Grayson said it, like Emery was an object makes me cringe a little. We don’t get to see them fight it out though because Emery shows up. Roman tells Emery Grayson’s parents are the head of the Red Hawks and she says she already knows. The look of hurt on Roman’s face is so sad.

Roman immediately goes to leave and Emery follows him outside. She says Grayson isn’t a Red Hawk, just his parents, so basically it’s okay. Roman does not see her point. He goes to walk away but Emery says not so fast, with Grayson she knows where she stands; he is honest with her about how he feels. It’s her turn to walk away but now Roman isn’t letting her go. “Do you think that’s what I want? Do you think it doesn’t kill me every time I have to walk away from you?” Emery says she doesn’t need to be protected but Roman disagrees, he says there are Atrians that want to harm her. He puts his hands on her face like his going to kiss her and says, “Every day I’m fighting to make sure that never happens.” He then utters what is quite possibly the best line ever “I would give you everything, just not now.”

Also at the party is School Bully. After an attempted bombing by the Red Hawks he tells Grayson he is out, this is not the kind of thing he signed up for. He does however know the time and place of that evenings Red Hawk meeting, something Emery needs to find out. You see earlier in the episode a pesky reporter man confronts Emery with video of her talking to Julia about how cypher is real. Pesky reporter is going to run with that story unless Emery can get him something better. Emery’s something better is find the Red Hawk meeting and hope pesky reporter gets something great on tape.

The funniest line of the episode goes to Julia. It’s her job to get the meeting place out of School Bully. Her response, “He punches things. Like all the time.” Emery tells her to be creative though and sure enough Julia gets the meeting time and place.

Emery’s plan works, the pesky reporter gets video of Grayson’s Mom telling the Red Hawks they may have failed with the bombing attempt earlier but they will fight on and attack the Atrian’s tenfold in the future. The pesky reporter goes with that story and gets Grayson’s Mother arrested for planning a terrorist attack.

Now the Trags. Their plan is to kidnap Grayson and hold him for ransom. In exchange for Grayson’s safe return they want a few of the Atrian’s that are being held prisoner. Zoe drugs Grayson and gets him out to her car. Roman however sees this, intercepts the ransom demand and chases after them. He manages to catch up with them and tries to talk them out of this. Drake tells Zoe not to do anything until he can talk to Roman but she doesn’t listen. She hits the gas and at the last second Drake grabs the wheel and flips their car barely avoiding Roman.

Roman and Drake get Grayson out of the car but before they can do anything else Zoe comes too. She holds them at gun point. She is ready to shoot them both when Roman distracts her and Drake takes her down. Drake wants to choke the life right out of her but Roman tells him a true warrior protects Atrian life, all Atrian’s, even hers. They let her go and get Grayson back to the party before anyone knows what happened.

The next day Emery tells Julia she doesn’t think she can be there for Grayson in the same way Grayson wants her to be. Besides, “I would rather have some day with Roman than now with Grayson, or anyone else.”

Emery is on her way to tell Roman this when Grayson shows up at her house. He is upset his parents lied to him about the way the Red Hawks operated. Grayson is there because he told his parents he couldn’t stand with them after this and he had nowhere else to turn.

Unfortunately Roman gets to Emery’s house to talk to her just in time to see Emery comforting Grayson on the couch. He looks hurt and leaves before they see him.

Well what did you think? Are you as glad as I am that Roman and Emery finally had a scene together and a touching one at that? And what do you think about Grayson? Is he really upset about his parents and the way they run the Red Hawks or is this all just a ruse?
